Not sure a great year for albums, in retrospect. It speaks volumes that the only 2014 album that you REALLY needed to hear was rerecorded nine years later, and now that's the version that everyone says to listen to instead.

2014 is a year, not a genre. Why do people tag music with non-genre related crap? LAST FM already displays the release year on the album page. VVVV 2014 has been a pretty good year for metal.
