So who is planning an improve "mission" in his or her respective city? What are you doing and where are you doing it? I'm thinking about it myself...

I remember at my last job, I had to sit around in a filing room for hours alone, sorting through records of dead patients. I couldn't stand it, so I would sit around instead and listen to This American Life, passed the hours by really quickly. Sometimes I would laugh out loud and sometimes I would feel horribly depressed, but sure as hell, each story was memorable.

or you can purchase the showtime series on itunes...i'm sure they make a couple bucks from each sale & you get to watch the flippin' amazing show...each season is only like $11 for 6 episodes. can't get a better deal than that. if you like the radio show, you'll love the tv show. it's simply beautiful

There are some other ways of getting old episodes... Google can tell you. But here's the deal: Donate some cash to keep the show free, the podcast alone uses enough bandwidth. If there are 400k listeners, and it costs 150,000$ a year, we each owe 37 cents. Cough up a buck or two and you're a fantastic human being. You also get an email from "Ira" calling you a sweetheart.

You can stream it from the This American Life website. They also post the most recent show for download. I've got about 100 shows saved from that alone.

Government funded which is a far cry better than privately owned corps which kowtow to their advertisers. I donate to This American Life annually to help keep it on the air and podcast-able. But this is all beside the point, if you feel that the government might have some involvement in what is being produced in this show then you need to listen to the episodes "Habeas Schmabeas", or "The Center for Lessons Learned", or "The Audacity of the Government". A complete archive can be found on their website at www.thislife.org You can stream full episodes. This is one of the only shows on the radio that make me sigh with relief.

Your point is? NPR is still heavily sponsored (funded) by government (at the state level, at least).

I'm trying to identify a song that plays in episode 318 ("With great power"), starts just before the 26 minute mark. Sounds like Philip Glass to me (is it true that he and Ira are cousins? Complicates looking this up!)

Thank you, lightupmyroom, the blurb on this page about incorrect tagging really peeves me. CPR is totally the artist.

BTW- Chicago Public Radio is what the podcast lists as an artist, thus it's not an inaccurate tag. CPR IS technically the artist and the specific program This American Life would translate to album; the specific episode -- track. It makes logical sense.
