Have rapidly accelerated up my all-time listens list to become a definite favourite. For whatever reason they were both underrated by audiences and unfashionable with 'professinonal' critics (though when do they ever get much right?) obviously their best known by far I'd Love to Change the World is a classic in its own right, but actually not greatly in keeping with the rest of their catalogue (perhaps why it did so well). Once you get past this admittedly great - though overemphasised - track there is an enormous back catalogue of top quality on every album. Alvin Lee writes well but he plays like a beast. I really really rate this band.

Ten Years After was one of the seminal sixties-bands. In the age of super lead-guitarists Alvin Lee was hard to beat as a front-man. His technique, and speed were amazing! Everyone loves their performance at Woodstock, but check-out the band on the 'Undead' album. They were a force to be reckoned-with. Check-out the cut: 'Spider In My Web', a blues stand-out! Cheers!!

Shred guitar or shredding is a virtuoso lead guitar solo playing style for the guitar, based on various complex playing techniques, particularly rapid passages and advanced performance effects. Music critics have stated that shred guitar is associated with "sweep-picked arpeggios, diminished and harmonic scales, finger-tapping and whammy-bar abuse", while others contend that it is a fairly subjective cultural term used by guitarists and enthusiasts of guitar music. It is commonly used with reference to heavy metal guitar playing, where it is associated with rapid tapping solos, fast scale and arpeggio runs and special effects such as whammy bar "dive bombs". | If I know well Alvin Lee never was metal guitarist, he was a virtuoso. | The "Shred" term came later, see Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and many others. | Here is the story: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shred_guitar
