I'm actually reading No Country For Old Men to Hex now, it's also from the same author. So damn fitting. If i'm not mistaken, The Bees Made Honey in the Lion's Skull is based on Blood Meridian. Can't wait to read Blood Meridian eventually.

This was the first of the returned Earth recordings I heard. I hadn't heard anything about their new sound prior to picking it up, read any reviews, etc., so I was going in completely cold, and it blew me away. One of the best qualities that music can have, IMO, is to "transport" you to another place or conjure up a vision/landscape simply through the combination of notes (and voices, in some cases), and this and several other Earth albums do that as well as or better than any other music I can think of. When I play Hex... I envision wide open western expanses with a quiet, at times desolate quality. As others have said, it's a perfect accompaniment to the writing of Cormac McCarthy. Additionally, these song titles are some of the best I've ever seen. I particularly like "The Dire and Ever Circling Wolves," both as a song title and as a song.

always played this when reading Mccarthy, even before I coped the Blood Meridan synoptic phrase/track title thing. no wonder it fits
