Pain Jerk (Japanese; ペイン・ジャーク) is a noise music unit run by Japanese musician Kohei Gomi. Pain Jerk was one of the more prolific and influential noise artists of the 1990s. Having headlined the 2007 No Fun Fest in New York, Pain Jerk finally bring their dynamic style of noise to the UK. Pain Jerk set the standard for the new wave of US noisers, most prominently Wolf Eyes.
Emeralds
Trio from Cleveland Ohio, currently making waves on internet messageboards wherever 3 or more dudes congregate, with their distinctive take on noise, which has been described as 'minimalist' and psychedelic scree. formed in 2006, the band has charted an impressive trajectory from self released tapes and CDrs to releases on Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace! label and Hanson tapes, these are snapping at the heels of the Skaters as some of the most exciting musicians working today.
"This is fantastic, no-mind drone that swells in bloom after bloom of pink F/X-irradiated clouds, crossing the kind of planetary scale gravities of Tangerine Dream's Zeit with the sun-climbing-tenement-walls feel of classic Cale/Velvets jams and the new dawn zone of the best Klaus Schulze, Cosmic Couriers and Taj Mahal Travellers sides." David Keenan, Volcanic Tongue
Mutant Ape
Bradford based industrio-noise maestro, back playing in Leeds after too long a gap to churn our heads with some obscene voltages, throbbing signal distortion and, from time to time, samples of the Carpenters. Mutnat Ape is well known on the US noise scene for his prolific releases and top notch label Turgid Animal. He has colaborated with Culver (Skullflower) and Filthy Turd amongst others. In a sea of Yellow Swans and Wolf Eyes copyists, Mutant Ape really stands out as producing great quality, inventive and spine tingling work. This is one of the few reasons to be cheerful about being in bloomin Yorkshire.

Ashtray Navigations
Phil Todd released the first Pain Jerk European CD in 1996. Around that time he formulated Ashtray Navigations, his blend of Japano Noise and Psychedelic Rock. Nowadays live AshNav is augmented by Phil Legard (larkfall, Xenis emputee travelling band) and Mel Crowley (Ocelocelot, Sculptress). Over decade on and Todd still manages to pummel allcomers with the intensity of the performance, mindwarping din and fervent reinvention. No-one pays attention to him in Leeds, but Phil doesnt care, he has 3 coloured vinyl LPs coming out next year on Qbico of Italy, and a record soon on Ecstatic Peace, , oh and one in Greece. So Ner.

Dogliveroil
Possible clarion call of the yet again posited reformation of the legendary stoopid noise band from Choke ON Stench, fronted by the even more legendary Marky Loo Loo, more a conundrum than a human, with Phil Todd and Joincey of Stuckometer and Coits 'fame' and whoever else fancies being along for the ride. The potteries answer to Smell and Quim basically. It all depends if Loo Loo is willing to take 'The Sex Pest' as he so lovingly calls his 4x4 out for a spin. Have hope. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll Thrice. You'll Chrone.
