"Månen ska lysa din väg" record release party
Sat 10.5.2025 at Kåren, Hämeenkatu 22, Turku
Free admission | ages 18+ | no nazis
Our second album “Månen ska lysa din väg” is coming out through Prosthetic Records on the 9th of May. To celebrate the occasion, we invite you to our record release party the day after at Kåren. We have noticed that tickets tend to cost quite a lot nowadays, especially for metal gigs, and as the harsh cutbacks implemented by the Finnish right-wing government are making the poor even poorer while living expenses keep rising, we wanted to offer this celebration for free.
In our choice of venue and lineup, we’ve emphasized connections to our history both as a band and as individuals. In a city plagued with evictions of live music venues, Kåren used to be a very important place throughout the 1990s. In the late 2010s, our guitarist Joakim ran a veggie burger joint called Streetfoodbar in the premises, hosting e.g. small-scale hardcore punk nights and drag brunches on the side. However, for two decades now, gigs held at Kåren have been very few and far between. This will change at least for this one night, when we share the stage with our local punk and metal siblings, co-conspirators, fellow hopeful pessimists, friends: Agasia, Craneium, Laua Rip, Kätyrlauma, Mansion and Sunniva – people with whom we have played gigs, crammed into vans, crossed seas and arbitrary borders, recorded music, organized festivals and our futures, taken crew photos, laughed, shared. All these bands agreed to come do this for free, so please support them any way you can!
Since this is not just about music, we have also invited tablers and distros that deal with issues we consider crucial for our time here on earth. One of these is of course the collectively-run queer feminist and anti-capitalist DIY community space Kirjakahvila, where we are active as well. Information on local anti-fascist struggles will be provided by the Turku ilman natseja group, and the local chapter of the Anarchist Black Cross network will share information on political – especially anti-fascist – prisoners and how to support them. The anarchist infoshop and bookstore Mustan kanin kolo from Helsinki will bring along some interesting reads. More tablers will be announced later
