Optimo Music 10th Birthday

After two amazing Optimo Music Showcase’s back in The Burrow, Fat Out are really excited to be celebrating Optimo Music’s 10th Birthday by bringing three idiosyncratic live performers from the label to The White Hotel, all welded together by the incredible tunes of Optimo’s JD Twitch.

Optimo Music became a record company run by JD Twitch and has collaborated with 200 artists and DJ’s including Zombie Zombie, HEALTH, and Mad Professor. The label aims to “support and expose the plethora of local talent lighting up our lives and exciting our ears, as well as those shaking things up far from our fair city. There is no genre, no dogma, just music we love and want to share. Love is the message”.

The Golden Filter
Penelope Trappes and Stephen Hindman formed in New York, 2008, as a pop music status quo called The Golden Filter. As part of Glasgow’s Optimo Music family, they are recently living in London collaborating with the label creating analogue eat heavy soundscaping. The duo is part electronic experimentation, part art project and part disco party. Since relocating to London The Golden Filter have been busy writing film sound tracks, playing live and DJ’ing throughout clubs and festivals over Europe and beyond.

MR TC
Thomas Lea Clarke's output as MR TC has cemented his reputation as one of the most exciting up and coming producers and DJs to have come out of the Glasgow underground in the past couple of years. His two sell out EPs on Optimo music will be followed up this year by a 4 track EP on new Optimo Sub: Label Against Facism Tracks. Joined onstage for his live show by Daniel Magee (aka Lo Kindre) and Mathieu Robin (of Chump) he extends and transforms the tracks from his records into a psychedelic dance journey with live drums, guitar, drum machines, synths, samplers and effects.

Lia Mice
Lia Mice is an instrumental designer, London based producer, live artist and DJ. Mice’s eccentric and idiosyncratic unique productions come from old and new analog samplers and years of studio experimentation. Playing all over the world including Berlin, Tokyo and Lisbon, the extraordinary DJ explores electro, italo, tech noir, acid and experimental pop and is obsessed with sound, music and the human interactions of music making.

JD Twitch
Optimo’s co-founder JD Twitch is continuing to tour world wide after 13 years of Sub Club Sunday/Monday Glasgow club nights, still returning every two months to party at home in Scotland. Based in Glasgow, experienced DJ’s JD Twitch and Jonnie Wilkes teamed together in 1997 to create club night Optimo "I didn't care whether it would work or not, or whether anyone would go, it was just something I had to do," says Twitch. "I love DJing with all my heart but at this point I was so bored with seamless mixing - it was all just too obvious, too predictable and too easy - that I had to do something to preserve my (in)sanity.". The night proved to be a massive hit and ran from November 1997 to April 2010 when the club sadly closed. With a mix of Twitch’s techno, electro, rock style and Wilkes reggae, funk and jazz mixes... it wasn’t a night to be missed!
