Excepter are aural trekkies to the full - despite their often camp stage attire, they are unflinching in going where no band has gone before. In their twelve-year career, despite numerous lineup changes and the tragic loss of former member Clare Amory in 2011, they've never stopped exploring sound's deep potential. Unlike Animal Collective, whose label Paw Tracks they've released on several times, this Brooklyn group have never done a Merriweather Post Pavilion crossover, instead continuing to do noise pop from every angle except any you'd expect. Despite this, 2014 release 'Maids' shows that Excepter are more than capable of getting to the point, a promising sign at this stage in a career full of surprising twists and turns.
Local sonic pioneers Bismuth are finally releasing their debut album via Geertruida this month and to celebrate they'll be giving us an exclusive taste of the new record at OT301. That's right, Excepter and Bismuth on a single bill, ear-splitting and mouth-watering all at the same time.
