The Horrors and Thurston Moore will appear at The Fly Awards 2014 ceremony in London next February.
The Horrors are to receive the Outstanding Artistry Award, hosted by War Child, and will perform on the night.
Thurston Moore, best-known for his work with Sonic Youth, will receive the Living Legend Award.
Says Ben Knowles, War Child’s Director of Fundraising: “War Child believe the best music can change not only people’s mood but people’s lives. We are proud that The Horrors will be receiving the Outstanding Artistry Award in our name at 2014’s The Fly Awards. A band whose thrillingly uncompromising live shows, three incredible albums and refusal to conform to trends has marked them as an individual talent and seen them inspire devotion among their growing legion of fans. The award is deserved recognition.”
The Fly editor JJ Dunning says: “Thurston Moore’s work forms a touchstone of modern guitar music. He is a hero and an icon and we are honoured that he has agreed to appear at our ceremony and receive the Living Legend award.”
