This weekend program investigates utopias and dreams with intimate performances from a freshly spawned music project and newly produced album of two female singers to warm our hearts.
Islaja is Merja Kokkonen, a visual artist and musician living and working in Berlin, Germany who has released on Fonal Records, Ecstatic Peace, Not Not Fun and Root Strata. Her unique vocal style and daring DIY approach to music composition were praised by the Wire, Dusted and Pitchfork. Islaja’s new album features analog synths and drum machines and they will bring a new fresh sound to the spectrum of her experimental pop music.
London-born, Berlin-based Perera Elsewhere summons lost souls and presage of tomorrow in her crafting of sound. From the grit of dark club to the absorption of indigenous sounds and styles along her travels, Perera melds these inspirations into her own semi-acoustic, abstract and pop-tinged bliss. October will see Perera Elsewhere release her self-titled debut LP on Friends of Friends. With Gonja Sufi featuring on the lead single, as well as remixes slated from the likes of Hype Williams and Maria Minerva, the sum of the parts adds up to a concentrated plume of aural frankincense.
Telepathe
Melissa Livaudais of Brooklyn’s reigning synth-pop power duo, Telepathe, will provide the chopped and screwed soundtrack to lift you up and melt you down like nobody’s business.

Having religiously followed the last decade of music evolution, shepherd navigates from the well-known to the far edges of today’s soundscapes. Never abandoning his critical approach dictates him to play distilled and essence-rich stuff whichever genre of electronic music he touches.
