Unearthly Trance

To coincide with their 3rd Australian tour, French funeral doom lords Monarch will be raining darkness and painting the highways red with the evil forces of Relapse recording artists Unearthly Trance (Brooklyn, USA) and Southern Lord recording artists Eagle Twin (Salt Lake City, USA).

My friends, let me just say that this will be a triple billing of doom like no other, never has there been an Australian tour like this, one that’...s solely devoted to the extreme forces of detuned downbeat metal! This is a triple billing of world-class doom.

With two successful Australian tours now under their belts, their last being with Southern Lord recording artists Wolves in the throne Room, it’s safe to say that Monarch have built up a loyal fan base of die hard doom merchants. Rising from the blackened sea off the coast of the south of France, Monarch has been laying waste on international stages since their inception in 2004. With the addition of new drummer Rob Shaffer and second guitarist Robert MacManus, Monarch is now an unstoppable five-piece monolith.

Rising from the tough streets of Long Island, Queens and Brooklyn, all of which make up the Burrows of New York, Unearthly Trance is a hard as nails punk hardcore infused doom metal trio that have been cited by critics as being at the forefront of modern doom since their inception in 2000. Like the road worriers that they are, Unearthly Trance have toured the world many times over sharing stages with the likes of Sunn O)), Pelican, Electric Wizard and Morbid Angel. Aside from recording for their current label Relapse, they’ve also had released on Southern Lord and Rise Above. Unearthly Trance is brutal force.

Fronted by guitarist / vocalist Gentry Densley, also a member of ‘Ascend’ featuring Greg Anderson of Sunn O)), Eagle Twin is a sludge metal duo that features drummer Tyler Smith, together they make for a dark and brooding, and ultra heavy, force of guitar and drums. Rising from the harsh surroundings of Salt Lake City in 2007, a City where Axl Rose once started a riot in and got Guns n Roses banned for life from because of, Eagle Twin are a band like no other, they’re a true testimonial that duos can be just as heavy and who really needs a bassist anyway. Their debut album was released on Southern Lord in 2009 and entitled The Unkindness of crows, Eagle Twin are currently recording their follow up album, this tour will be their first from the studio.

With Heathen Skulls on going efforts in touring new and interesting, hard and heavy, dark and obscure artists to this great land Australia, it gives me immense please in presents to you in the summer of 2011, Monarch, Unearthly Trance and Eagle Twin’s Australian tour.
