NOVEMBER COMING FIRE
After three years dormant, the Pagan festival of Samhain, the November Coming Fire brings with it the announcement of the return of The UK’s very own November Coming Fire
Thirty Days Of Night Records approached NCF earlier this year, asking the band to appear at the ever-growing TDON yearly live event. In preparation for these two very special shows, NCF have asked friends Throats and Tropics to join them for an intimate warm up show at London’s now legendary Old Blue Last where the band will be playing a selection of songs that will be heard the following week in Camden.
November Coming Fire emerged from the Canterbury Hardcore scene in 2001 and quickly became one of the scene’s most respected bands, a band with enough passion and talent to genuinely stretch the confines of the hardcore genre. Their debut MCD Black Ballads was met with an overwhelmingly positive response, quickly landing the group support slots alongside the likes of Converge, Terror and Give Up The Ghost, including what has since become an infamous appearance alongside Converge in a 100-capacity Boy Scouts building in Canterbury.
But I’m sure that all of you know this already, I’m sure you also all know that the group disbanded in 2007 to take on other projects including Tortuga and The Sans Pareil. However, three years have passed since then and November Coming Fire have decided that it’s about time they caused a little more havoc…
THROATS
It’s been a good year for Throats, playing shows alongside the likes of Rolo Tomassi, Trash Talk, Narrows, The Plight and Fucked Up, making their way onto a number of hard-hitting festival line-ups and earning themselves a well-deserved Kerrang! Award nomination. Not that being so busy has in any way tired them out; Throats are definitely still set to ‘destroy’.
This is not a band that do sing-a-longs, they don’t do melodies, you won’t find them playing at your kid sisters birthday party. Throats do riffs. They do them hard, they do them loud and they do them well. No longer a simple hardcore band, Throats have evolved into a monster, encompassing a sound that embraces elements of Napalm Death, Rotten Sound, crust and d-beat into their stoned, cosmic riffs and breakdowns. You have been warned.
TROPICS
Picking a band name is a pain in the ass, especially if it doesn’t come quickly. No-one else is ever gonna have a name as good as ‘The Nation of Ulysses’ so you’re kind of stuck from the start. For anyone who has checked out Tropics before Matt, Dan and Robin have moved on to more prolific pastures in the forms of Fair Oh's, Cold Pumas and Male Bonding. Tropics have since absorbed three of the guys who used to play in the awesome and calculating Meet Me In St Louis. It's practically a new band and should really warrant a new name but that's too much effort.
