What a treat to be on the receiving end ;) The most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard is Arvo Pärt's "Spiegel im Spiegel" http://tinyurl.com/d6olyj Which is odd because I'm not big on classical...but this one strikes a chord deep inside me. So simple, but stirs so much emotion. I have maybe a few others that are tops but don't quite reach the same level if you'd like... I'm curious to hear your's now!

Don't think you should write yourself off so easily as being "ignorant" about music - just by looking at your playlist, it seems your taste in music is already pretty broad. But hey, if you're looking to broaden your horizons even more then you likely came to the right place.

Yea, you SHOULD listen to those bands, mos def, esp. the Violent Femmes. I drop some recommends later. Yea, I guess it's hard to listen to music while you're trying to write music - kinda hard to listen to your own muse like that. well, there's a time and a place for everything.
