If coffee shops here were as commonplace as there, I would probably drink more coffee. But I guess coffee is more often drunk by busy and older people and I'm neither of those two, haha. So I'd maybe still prefer tea over coffee if I ever lived there. Mineral water is fine too. I've been cutting down my sugar intake by drinking less and less tea.

Really? Two glasses of tea a day is a lot? I used to drink up to 10 glasses a day and I am still considered a "low drinker". That's just how things are here. We NEVER stop drinking tea. We drink it during breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you don't drink tea during breakfast then it's not considered a breakfast. When you visit your friends, relatives and anywhere else you will always be offered some tea. When you are bored, you prepare yourself a glass of tea. If you visit someone and you have not been offered tea, it is considered rude, VERY RUDE. Tea is very important in Turkish culture. As for coffee consumption, I don't drink that much coffee because I prefer tea, coffee is much more expensive anyways so why bother? Probably because we don't grow coffee here in Turkey.
