yep the rebel really manifests his philosophical range, i suppose. also, the just assassins - one of his plays - is an interesting read and quite relevant today, if not somewhat provoking; though i have never found an english translation that does it justice. anyway yeah, pearls have a cohen-esque sound in some of the songs on balaklava, and their debut was strongly influenced by blonde on blonde apparently.

i'm sure i read somewhere the plague is his most successful - which i found surprising since it was really the stranger that made his reputation, though the plague is more ambitious; being an allegory (and being significantly more distinct compared to meursalt). i also read the rebel was his favourite of his own, though that could be in response to later friction between him and sartre. "we're always a bit at fault." anyway, enjoy pearls before swine, balaklava is their best.

you might like pearls before swine if you haven't heard them already; they're a 60s psych folk band. also what do you think of albert camus?

Comus is extraordinary exceptional, indeed. there is nothing that can be really compared, but u may try this following gem considering freaky freakin freak-folk... Exuma - Exuma I (1970)... its one of my favorite records of all time. its outstanding, haunting, just overwhelming... check the ratings: http://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/exuma/exuma/ ...

thx Tom : ) awesome library too! i love music variety like this : ) what do u think about Comus? i see u have listened to them. i was completely blown away by this record. u mean Sun O))) & Ulver combo? i have listened it only 1x, it was okay, nothing special to be honest. the last track was actually the best. but u might get it for reading, haha, fine background music. do u like Om? or Earth? ... ok enough for now, we should stay in touch! : )

Nothing Is Real is my favorite on Tomorrows Harvest so far. The gems are in the second half of the album.

Thanks for your visit and Friendship request, Uber, and we really do have a super-compatibility if you like Phil Ochs, Leonard Cohen and Joni! Have you heard Cohen's amazing new album Old Ideas yet, the best since Recent Songs or The Future? Truly recommend it to everybody in the world! As you obviously like political songwriting and strong lyrics you might be one of the rare people who would like my own both political and romantic and spiritual songs as my songwriter alter-ego Brokenjarafingers, in the vein of Leonard Cohen, Phil Ochs, Don McLean, Harry Chapin and others which can be found on these sites: http://www.youtube.com/user/brokenjarafingers (check out New Versions first) http://www.last.fm/music/BrokenJaraFingers (two complete albums)

Thanks for the recommendation! I just listened to Odelay, and although I think Guero is still my favorite, I totally enjoyed it.

Blood on the Tracks by Dylan has got to be one of my favorite albums ever and for Cohen I love Songs from a Room (or Songs of Love and Hate; I can't choose) and I like Guero by Beck, but I really don't know much else from him. What would you suggest?

There also wasn't color in the times of true fine literature, music, and philosophy. Melanin was invented long after that.
