I hope yr new job goes well too! today was good, I'm fitting towbars again for a company on Dales Road. There's only 4 of us there in total and they all seem nice. Billy Bragg played at the Peel Centre last Friday but it sold out before I could get a ticket, there's no way I'm gonna miss The Wedding Present though....

No, I haven't had that for years now. I'm working in sheet metal, I still give guitar lessons, though. Canada, Australia was a rather bad move on my part, but I do still go there when I can. I've come to terms with the split now and know that there'll be lots of interesting solo work to come from all the members (Lee has a solo album out in March). It would be a shame if I miss Father Murphy at Ipswich, I very much enjoyed them before. Maybe I'll be able to catch them somewhere else. As far as other gigs I'd really like to see Wild Flag in Feb but that depends on me getting a job. I quit Asda in the end... I'll message you some info regarding who to talk to about playing the Peel Centre and I'll speak to Matt about it too... Yr trip in America sounds great and you'll have to tell me more when I next see you. As I'm also out of work I have no money at the moment but I'll let you know if I'm going into town anytime soon... also please keep me updated with any good gigs you hear about :)

Hi! the Electric Ballroom gig was even more crazy than Cafe OTO, I got given a backstage pass and was asked if I wanted to hang out with the band after the show! got free beer, poster and 2 t-shirts...spent about an hour or more with his band. I didn't really talk that much to Thurston as I was a bit star struck and he was doing other things, I just said hi, loved the show etc... I got a record that his brother appears on and mentioned that... but it was a night that I'll never forget! then about a week or so later it was announced that Thurston would be doing a poetry reading at Cambridge University (it was the night Brideburger played in Ipswich) so again I went to see Thurston, got a seat at the very front directly in front of him and listented to him read for about 40 minutes then there was a Q & A session followed by a reception with free wine and chat with him. By this time I was a bit worried that he'd think I was stalking him!! (maybe I was?) but he was kool and remembered me.

I'm still in a bit of shock over the fact that I'll probably never see Sonic Youth perform as a band again. (Thurston and Kim have split up). bringoutgrandad should play the Peel cantre!

Last night I saw Sunburned Hand Of The Man at Cafe OTO and it was amazing! Thurston joined the band and I got to meet and talk to him! tomorrow I should be going to see Thurston at the Electric Ballroom as I've been put on the guestlist! there's still tickets available.... as for the Peel centre my name is down for a being a volunteer but I haven't really done much for them appart from trying to promote the place online. We are still looking for funding to get the work on the building completed. I started a job last week and did 2 days for them before tearing a tendon in my arm, now I'm not sure if I have a job to go back to...

Now that ATP is going to be in March it means I can go! hopefully see you there!

Again thanks Alice (and Martin) for organising yesterday, i had a really good time and loved all the bands that played! I hope you have a safe trip to and in America, enjoy it.

I only know Marcus from meeting him at the Mcginty's and Campsea Ashe shows and we're friends on here, i must have seen (((oh dear 3 or 4 times now. I see you've now found out the date for The Lark, providing that is the correct date....? Yeah i can't wait to see Thurston again! and his new album will be out very soon. I've not been to the Union Chapel before though, have you? i will be sure to check out that kebab shop, i think one of my friends was talking about it too!

Yeah it seemed like a good turn out in the end, about 8 of my friends went and i was surprised to see Barney Monger playing drums for The Doomed Bird, i went to school with him! also nice that Sheila Ravenscroft was there, i didn't know it before i went but Tom was having a guest mix from The Doomed Bird Of Providence that night aswell on 6 music. I wouldn't worry about that drink, i think he'd had enough anyway! (((oh dear were good as usual and it was nice of Marcus to dedicate "Last Friend" to me (stubba666)! I would be happy to pay £6 for Sic Alps + 5 others and i hope lots of people show up for it. I might be going to The Lark this year and maybe Shedfest too as i have a friend with a caravan on Mersea island so i'm sure i will see you again soon.... maybe it's a good thing that the Sudbury record shop didn't have much stuff, seeing as you're saving for America!

Right, i'll probably see you at the Doomed Bird Of Providence show then, i still intend on going to this.

I don't know for definite if the shop in Sudbury is taking part, it's on the list of participating stores though. might be worth finding out before you go. no way, is there a Wimpy in Sudbury still, i thought Stowmarket was the only town left with a Wimpy! Last year Soundclash were giving away free record bags, cd's etc... they did have quite a few RSD items but only about 3 or 4 of each. Every year RSD is getting more popular though, i got to Norwich about an hour before the shop opened and there was allready a queue waiting, where as the year before that i was the first person there. I'm skint atm because work has been very slow lately and it now looks like i will be out of a job by the end of summer. I'm sure i'll sort something out soon. I'd love to go to the AC ATP too, so many good bands gonna be there. I have managed to get tickets to see Thurston Moore in London at the end of May which i'm pretty excited about!

Don't forget it's Record Store Day this Saturday, i normally got to Soundclash in Norwich but i think i might have to miss this one, i'm completely broke :( There's also a shop in Sudbury called Compact Music which is supposed to be taking part. I will miss the excitement of getting up early and rushing to the shop to be first in the queue and seeing what i can find, last year there was a really good atmosphere going on. Let me know if you go....

Bringoutgrandad sounds good, i want to hear more now.... how did the name come about? i was talking to someone else in the band and they said it was to something do with a chinese restaurant and goldfish going missing?!? i can't see the connection myself. i thought maybe it was a homage to the Texas chainsaw massacre film! i got the "Wobbly Hall" cd today and i'm listening now. i forgot how good that night was....

I really want to go to the Animal Collective ATP in May, not so much to see AC but the line-up is very nice. Unfortunately i don't think i can afford it though, i haven't seen any live bands since new years day now and i'm getting withdrawls.... i'll be at that Sic Alps gig though for sure! please keep me updated with any other good nights in Ipswich.

thanks for trying to vote! i'm very pleased that we got the money, Stowmarket has probably doubled in size since you last visited and really needs somewhere like the John Peel centre. i can't wait for ATP next weekend! the only thing i'm not looking forward to is driving there, i hope there's no snow or ice by then. i'm also really looking forward to seeing Trumans Water again. it's hard to believe that i last saw them 17 years ago at Reading Festival '93, makes me feel old!

I know the village hall in Campsea Ashe, i saw the Flower-Corsano Duo play there with Action Beat and Don Vito a couple of years ago, were you there? It has been very hot lately but i like working outside, i suppose you're keepin nice and cool in yr a/c office! some SBHOTM albums i'd recommend would be: Jaybird, Headress, London Zero, Fire Escape and "A". If you're having trouble finding these then let me know and i'll point you in the right direction. I don't know what i'm doing this weekend but it most probably will involve beer and bbq's. I was so tempted by the Godspeed ATP that i've allready bought tickets, the lineup is looking very good i'm especially looking forward to Bardo Pond, Deerhoof, Emeralds, Rangda, Dead C and Black Dice. Hey Alice, how are you? i've just got an email from John Moloney (Sunburned Hand Of The Man) he is going to be playing as part of MV & EE and the Golden Road along with Mike Flower and will be doing a UK/Euro tour in late August, he has asked me if i know anywhere they could play in Ipswich. I'm trying to find out how many people will be in the band and thought you may be interested to know this, if you think theres a chance this could happen at McGinty's then let me know, i would even be willing to help out with the cost of things.... have a good weekend

I think Sunburned have played the Greenman festival a couple of times now. Some of my fav SBHOTM albums are Jaybird, Headdress, London Zero, Fire Escape and A, let me know if you're having trouble finding them and i might be able to help. Sadly i don't know of too many good record shops around here, i tend to buy most of my music direct from the bands/labels or online now. I would like to support a local shop but i have to travel to far to get to one. My weekend was ok thanks, nothing special just same old really. Well have fun if you do go see Times New Viking tonight, i'm listening to them now, i only have live recordings of them though, no albums.

I never really knew what i wanted to do when i was younger, i started doing this job to help out a friend and 10 years later i'm still doing it, the only other job i've had was making radiator covers, i i've had a pretty exciting life right? I would love to have my own record shop selling only music that i like (like Volcanic Tongue) but i know this is a dream! I went to Soundclash last year after searching for shops that were taking part , that's how i knew they would be doing it again. I did check the UK RSD site again this year and i'm sure they were listed as participating. I know most of the bands playing this ATP but still need to familiarise myself with a few of them. I hope there's not going to be any difficult decisions over bands that clash.

one last thing, this time in three weeks time, it will all be starting, i can't wait!

i don't think i know where Circular Sound is in Norwich, i rarely go there. maybe the next time i visit i will try and search for it..... or maybe not after yr experience! did you ever get the proper dEUS cd? the Vivian Girls 7" i got was "my love will follow me / he's gone" i also got the Surfer Blood "swim" single and Wooden Shjips Australia and New Zealand tour 7" and a couple of other things. what other bands have you tried to get to play The Blue Room? do you know/like Sunburned Hand Of The Man? i hope they come to the UK this year, one of the band members always emails me with the opportunity to buy new release before anywhere stocks them, i must have about 100 of their cds/records/tapes now! maybe they would play Ipswich, i know they want to tour the UK again but there's sometimes a lot of members in that band (the line-up regularly changes) so i guess it would be too expensive. anyway have a nice weekend!

it's a real shame there's not many independent record shops left now, i went to Soundclash last year aswell as this year for RSD. last year i was the first person in the shop and managed to get everything i wanted but this year even though i got there early there was about 20 people waiting to get in and some of the exclusives had sold out, like the Pavement 7". Soundlash were giving away free record bags to all the customers and i got one along with some free cds, badges and a "I ♥ Indies" cd wrapper remover. it was a great atmosphere that day and had fun talking to the other vinyl junkies whilst waiting to get in. next year i will have to get there super early though, it's getting bigger and more popular each year. i love yr description of Lowestoft i think it might always be like that! ;)

i'm a mobile towbar fitter, if you understand what that is? i go all over east anglia fitting towbars to peoples cars. i'm sorry to say that i'm responsable for alot of the caravans on the roads! it is a nice job when the weather is like this but when it's freezing or raining then i would prefer to be inside. also it can get too hot in the summer and i bet you get cold in yr air con office! sadly i don't listen to much music during the day, my workmate/boss has radio 2 on most of the time (that's about the only station we can get) or nothing at all but i make up for it when i get home! i think my car insurance is with yr company and that's why i got a bit confused by the email. i frogot that i had filled out the mailing list. i think i was the first person on it, i didn't want to miss out on the free poster(s)!

i nearly bought Patti Smith's Easter LP from Out Of Time the other day, wish i had now. i will have to go back and see if it's still there. did you do anything for Record Store Day last Saturday? i went to Soundclash in Norwich (the nearest shop taking part) and managed to get Sonic Youth - Hits Are For Squares on double vinyl and Vivian Girls 7" as well as a few other things, there were people queing to get in before the shop opened. i find it hard to say which SY album iike the most as i change my mind alot. Sister is always in my top 3 though. basicly i love them all. Goo and Dirty were the first albums i heard of theirs back in the early nineties so they will always be special to me....

i don't get to listen to last.fm at work, that would be nice but i'm outside or in a van most of the time. are you in insurance by any chance? (LV) was that you who sent me the email for the Honkeyfinger gig? i couldn't work out how they/you got my address. i haven't tried the Yamazaki single malt yet but next time i'm there i will give it a go. so hopefully there will be some good news regarding the MV/EE video soon, i was thinking it wouldn't show up now.
