Thanks, Roman! I remember hooking up the new turntable and gain booster for my CD-oriented amplifier. I have a French RCA vinyl pressing of [album artist=Sonny Rollins]The Bridge[/album], classic early '60's recording mics, practically resolution-independent master tape. It sounded like the quartet was jamming in my room. The same album on CD sounded like, well, any old CD.

well it depends.in cynic's case i like the album because i like Masvidal's other band Aeon Spoke which sound very alike Traced in air, a little softer though.i know atheist are recording. when i talked with'em last time they were pretty concerned about not dissapointing but they believe that they can keep the old sound and the legend. Kelly wrote about that on his myspace page. check it out. about carcass...dunno. i think they could still easily make a good material that won't dishonor their name. i was against this "new age" albums when i first heard about cynic's decision two years ago, but now i believe in the bands and hope for the best :)

I was serious about Michael J. I can understand someone for whom music is built into their memories very well. I've been lazy about the guitar; I've had a low grade infection all summer and have been very low energy. At least I've got the guitar and setup a practice area and played a few times; slow progress.

Hi Roman! My three 1 minute pieces are a very personal project that doesn't really reflect what I do. I'd produced those pieces as a kind of therapy for the PTSD I'd suffered as a 9/11 survivor. My friend I met at last.fm, Greg, an ambient sound designer talked me into releasing them anyway. I hope to have some jazz guitar pieces up at last.fm in a few months. Thanks for listening.

I suppose I'm an investor. My parents' passed away and left their estate in the hands of an investment bank; I've had no control. Still, life is good. The bank they left in control is the only one left standing today, and my stocks have done well considering. It's all in theoretical money, anyway. You could click on the link on my last.fm page, just below my F_Hole handle, and name and age, etc. to hear some very personal music of mine.

Yes, Morricone is a king. I love his score for John Carpenter's The Thing too, and all the italian westerns. I've lost thousands of dollars on paper, so it's scary, the economy, but after living under the fear-mongering Bush II for 8 years, I'm used to being cowed by the news. I hope ppl will come together and realize how lucky we are to have food, shelter, clothing, and each other, no matter what. Americans need to innovate or get out of the way of the Chinese. :)
