I was surprisingly impressed with Califone. I'd never really got into them that much before and seeing them live was a bit of an "aha" moment. It was a short, low-key set that had the vibe of a back porch jam even though they were playing in a pretty big concert hall. A lot of hypnotic percussion and interesting instrumentation. The singer is actually quite a character, his banter with the audience was very, very funny. I've since picked up a few tracks from "Funeral Singers" and will be looking for more soon!

So, what do you think of "the Big To-Do"? (I'm liking it so far.) Enjoy the Wilco show... they played here a month or two back (with Califone). One of the best shows I've seen in a long, long time!

Hey -- just wanted to introduce you to an Americana/Country singer/songwriter I represent. -- http://www.last.fm/music/Reagan+Boggs -- "Reagan Boggs is a fantastic songwriter, and powerful singer. 'The Graves' (track 9) is brilliant, edgy Americana and 'Mixed Signals' (track 10) sounds like the Ronstadt repertoire from 1973. This disc may be your most pleasant discovery of the year!" -- Rob Reinhart - Acoustic Cafe - Radio's best international showcase for new and classic acoustic music. -- Comparisons include; Emmylou Harris, Tift Merritt, Lucinda Williams, Kasey Chambers, Kathleen Edwards, Patty Loveless, Linda, Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi, Rhonda Vincent and Allison Moorer. Hope you enjoy!

So is the J Farrar - Ben Gibbard - Jack Kerouac thing any good? Seems like a pretty interesting concept... Been looking forward to it.

Just bouncin around shouting at people. Have you heard the new Son Volt? I think it's their best since Trace.

My first impression is good! More quiet and acoustic than their recent stuff (I saw a review that compared it to "Trace" but without the rockers) I think there are lots of subtle interesting things happening musically that will get better with a few more listens... The new Magnolia's out?!? How is that?

I've just heard one song from the new Son Volt. I've heard the new Wilco in it's entirety a few times tho... I think it's going to a good summer for new music!

Howdy former neighbour! I'm not sure what's up but suddenly my compatibility with everyone is "low"? Must be some glitch. (Either that or its all the Britney Spears I've been listening to lately... ;-)

Just curious what you think of the new Jenny Lewis album? I'm liking it okay so far but it's not grabbing me like the Rabbit Fur Coat one...
