Here's a stupid question: you know how in the Sixties, it seemed perfectly acceptable for Philippine musicians to directly package themselves as the Pinoy version of some international performer (as a matter of course)... Was there ever a local equivalent of Simon and Garfunkel? What about Peter, Paul, and Mary? If so, then who?

So it's kinda official now -- I don't like Under the Blacklights. I gave it more than a few chances to win me over, but i'm just not feeling it. It's musically competent enough, and will most likely win them new (older-aged?) fans, because of how 'mature' it sounds. And i'm still open to the possibility that it will grow on me, eventually. But as it stands, it's their least satisfying effort.

I noticed that you haven't listened to Okkervil River yet (well, based on your charts, anyway). Definitely worth the effort, I say. (I only checked them out recently, myself). Standout tracks are A Favor, West Falls, The President's Dead, and Plus Ones (all from different releases). I'm hoping their newest album, The Stage Names (out last month in the US) gets picked up by Fully Booked.

Just listened to The Moneymaker, I see. Your gut reaction? I think it's interesting enough, as a one-time departure, but I'd be a little upset if it's representative of how the new album sounds, overall. Have you checked out the pornorific video that accompanies it yet? Also, we really need to schedule that mix swap, before the month ends. For real, this time!
