Thanks for the follow. I hadn't heard of Anathema before seeing them as one of your top artists. I listened to some of their music and really like it. So, thanks for introducing me to some new music as well.

No problem, thanks for the shout! I'm glad you were able to find a new band to listen to. As far as Anathema is concerned, you need to sit down with the Alternative 4 album if you haven't already. I reach for that album more than their others, it's almost as if the lyrics were written for every experience I've ever had in my life. There are also a few amazing Pink Floyd covers included. The only bad song (to me) on the album is the Bad Religion cover, I tend to skip that one.

btw, I really like the photo of that raccoon on your blog. There's one that comes and eats from the garbage can behind my apartment, but he's actually polite enough to replace the lid when he's finished. It's incredible lol. And yes, clearly I have nothing but praise for Agalloch! lol. And great, I think you'll like the band. Pine trees...there's something I miss from the East Coast. Luckily, I hear the Pacific Northwest has plenty. I'm really trying to travel more, I plan on going to Europe next year.

Thanks, well the blog is right next to my profile pic under my name, so you can check it out when you'd like. ;) Ah, you live in the southern U.S.? Well, the midwest isn't so good for hiking because of the flat land. I'm originally from Jersey so I'm used to the mountains and hills. By the way, you said on your profile that you're open to music suggestions - you might like Thrawsunblat! They're cut from a very similar cloth to Agalloch, but more on the metal side. Still, they have softer songs, like "Maritime Shores." That and "Borea (Pyre of a Thousand Pine)" are really good. Just in case you're looking for something new. :)

Ah, at least you have woods! It's kind of hard to get somewhere peaceful in this city. But, I'll be going to visit LA and Seattle in a few days, and as strange as it sounds, I'll have my chance then; I'm planning on going hiking in California and just outside of Seattle, along the Puget Sound. I think that will give me the peace and solitude I need. It's funny because I was just writing something earlier about how the noise of cities can prevent a person from relaxing and clearing their mind. It's hard.

That was sort of the thing for me, too. From what I understand they went for more of a space and astral theme for this album, as opposed to the nature themes on their past releases. It's an interesting change, but I felt like the album was missing something. It was still very good though; I agree, I've liked all their releases.

I'm still struggling with whether to leave it myself. I'm kind of obligated to have one for work purposes (I write for an online paper and do editing), but I'm certainly not a fan of it. And I am, in addition to my job I have a blog and I'm working on a fantasy novel. But I definitely know how writer's block can be! And I also share the problem of needing a quiet place to think. I'm not a fan of cities (even though I live in Chicago), and I think a cabin in the woods would be ideal for writing. What about yourself? More of a city type, or...?

Thank you! :) Have you heard Agalloch's most recent album, The Serpent & the Sphere? It's good, not as good as their older albums but I still enjoyed it.

btw - and sorry for the double commenting - but I enjoyed your post about Facebook on your blog; about its many flaws and how people tend to hide behind a computer screen. It definitely has its minuses and I don't know that it should be called a social network so much as an anti-social network, lol. But I just wanted to say, nice blog overall.

I am pretty alright. I've decided to move (once again) from my home area to greater ventures that await me in San Antonio, which mainly involves my girlfriend. My job sucks (but I'm on my last week), the school semester ended badly (having a change of heart regarding my education I wrote off school at least a month before finals began), and I'm barely realizing why I left this area in the first place... But I couldn't be more content with my direction in life right now. I've learned alot being back down here, mainly that I can no longer live the lie of small town life.

In the Shadow of Our Pale Companion is the best song ever written, hands-down.

I'm sure it will be a reasonable wait till they march through the area again. Your ride left you behind? Bastard. I caught the last two minutes (at best) of their performance during SXSW 2011, so I don't even count that. If anything it was a raw deal to not even catch a full song.
