not bad, a bit bummed out. i was going to go to the museum today but there was a huge thunderstorm so i've been stuck inside all day. Still - my friends are playing a gig tonight so hopefully i want be trapped in all day. Any fun plans for today?

Mm, definitely the sea is a constant in the album -- including, obviously, the poem by Toulet. Seems he finds some sort of comfort in the ocean which makes sense because Avignon (where he is from, I think!) is quite close to the shore. :D

Ok...here's something. Help me understand Dredg. Because seriously...I just don't get it. And a lot of people I know with good taste in music LOVE that band. But I just don't hear it. I think I need a "decoder ring"...you know, coming to a band through the right steps which will then help you go back and make sense of the rest of their catalog? That's what I need with Dredg. Because I sort of feel like I SHOULD like them?

LOVE the new Horrors record. WAY different from their first album...much heavier shoegaze influence, not so much swampy garage/Birthday Party-lite like the first record. Going to see them tonight, actually. Looking forward to it...

ah, nice! i'll have to grab that tonight when i get home. yeah, that Syd barrett tribute album is pretty good - usually those sorts of things tank, but they got some great bands involved. i think my favorite on there is Intronaut's "Arnold Layne"

hey where'd you find that Kylesa cover of "Set The Controls..."? they played it live the last time i saw them, but i didn't know there was a recording of it somewhere...
