I've been buying a lot of stuff recently, although some of that hasn't been hard rock - my library was getting boring as well.

Once you've done that, EVERY single Dream Theater album is pure gold to me, so some of them would be worth checking out as well. Oh, watch out for "When Dream And day Unite". This was before James LaBrie's vocals.

I think if you want something melodic but HEAVY you need to listen to Dream Theater's "Train Of Thought". It is heavy as anything but the singing is great. James LaBrie has an awesome voice.

Opeth is close. But their lead singer GROWLING is something you're gonna find on every album. But when he's not growling - particularly on the "Damnation" album - he has a really nice melodic voice. In a few of their songs for eight minutes it's all heavy guitars and growling and then in the last two minutes, he sings and the music goes acoustic. A prime example of this is "The leper Affinity". I personally think they are great.

Also, I've just re - looked at your library and can see that you listen to John Petrucci. Do you ever listen to Dream Theater??? They are one of the best bands I've ever heard. I am aso a ub40 fan.

Great! I've never really listened to Cinderella before. I can see that you love Gypsy Road. I'll definaetly listen to them. The only new thing with me is that I've used Last FM a lot more!

Well, their best song in my opinion is the 20 minute 2112 but the rest of the album isn't as good as some of their other work. A farewell to kings would probably get my vote.

Nice library! Yeah, "I Don't Care Anymore" and most of Phil's songs really have meaning for me -- we both have a January 30 birthday (found that out when I was about 12!!), and it seems we must think alike quite a bit! =)

I have always listned to alot of music. I have a good knowledge - but not of current music. If someone asked me what btunes they were often playing on the radio at the moment or what was number one in the charts, I wouldn't have any idea.

Music is my passion. I play the drums - I have done for several years. I am having piano lessons right now.

Some highlights for me were what do you want from me, poles apart, marooned, keep talking and cluster one. High hopes and wearing the inside out were also good. The rest was pretty average.

Do you like the album. "piper at the gates of dawn"? besides ummagumma that is one of their strangest albums

username382
Yes! I like most of their albums, my favourites are "Wish you were here" and "animals". I have listend to all their albums and most of them are excellent. I really wish that "alan's psycadellic breakfast wasn't on atom heart mother though. All of the tracks are excellent in my opinion except for that one - it ruins the album. Some of the tracks on "ummagumma" are not so brilliant either.

I love those too! I have no clue whixh my favourites are because I like so much. I love frank zappas album "hot rats" which is mostly instrumental but they are great blues rock songs all the same. But beware! Some of his stuff is weird and wonderful but lots of it is just too strange for my taste. (two minute, one note songs) but there is loads of other great blues rock stuff, like rush, Ac Dc
