I always have a false assumption that people will share an mp3 file directly to me rather than sending me a link to the file via hosting site, hence why I shared my email address. This is about the millionth time I've made this assumption and I don't think I will ever learn. Thanks for sharing the song. The song set I have for your playlist is now complete.

Thanks for the kind words about my library. I found your profile from the shoutbox of Former Selves, where mentioned the masterpiece "Future Nostalgia". I've attained all the songs from your list in spotify or my personal library, save for Shedbug. I will definitely appreciate it if you send the song my way.

That’s awesome--happy to hear you’ll potentially be around during the summer! That’s when the city really comes alive, so you picked a good time. I’m definitely still interested in your mixes and am glad you’ve got a new one up! I’m already looking forward to hearing it based on your description, so I’ll try to get to it as soon as I can. Oh, and I adore the new Fort Romeau! It’s one of my favorites from this year so far. I enjoy it more than anything he’s ever done actually, even though it’s not boundary pushing and is pretty safe (which is not a bad thing!). It’s very mellow and refined, and I like the almost complete lack of vocal sampling, which makes it a bit more elegant and stylish since I’m picky when it comes to that sort of thing. It kinda sounds like bedroom pop…but house. Even the most floor friendly cuts are still pretty chill. Definitely give it a listen, though. Curious to know if you’d like it!

Hi!! :D How have you been doing these days? Classes going alright? You have great timing because I actually had something I wanted to tell you! So one of my best friends recently relocated to the Bay Area, and I am very likely going to see her some weekend next month. I'll keep ya posted on the details when I figure them out, but maybe see you around?! Hope you've also been well and that life's been good to you!

It's nice to have you do all the dirty work; do let me know if you find any gems in that 1080p catalog. Happy to see that you've taken such a shine to that 12". You don't have to thank me again! I'm just glad to have been able to share it with someone who appreciates it. But you're very polite, so please don't ever change! And yes, I'm most certainly interested in this ambient mix! I don't have anything in the works right now, and might not for a while. I've been going through all the vaporwave records I've accumulated and have been saving the tracks I like. However, I don't get the impression this would be something you'd be interested in, though feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Like, one song is this absurd (but pretty fucking awesome) rework of the Space Jam theme.

A belated thank you! I hope you had the merriest of Christmases, buddy. And because I'm probably going to be late on this, I'll say it in advance. Just pretend you're receiving this three days later at midnight: Happy New Year! Hope your 2015 is bigger and better and soundtracked by even more good music! :)

That's pretty crazy about those tickets, though! I'm surprised that's the case since the announcement wasn't even that long ago. I think tickets are around $25 here, which is quite a bit more than usual (though still better than your scenario). I guess he's pretty popular now. And I agree that his change in styles has been a natural progression. When you compare his new sound to his old, it's kind of surprising! So fun fact: I've had the same Caribou song ("Crayon") as my ringtone for years upon years now. I can't even listen to that song normally without flinching and thinking someone's calling. Thankfully hardly anyone uses that function of the phone these days. And thanks for sharing those two tracks! Pretty cool to know that the video was shot around SF--not that you can really tell though or anything.

Shame about the weather, but happy to hear you at least had great company! I get what you mean about old friends drifting apart. I hate to say it, but it only becomes more likely--almost inevitable--with time. But on the plus side, the people who you keep close mean so much more because it's a choice and you work at those relationships (as opposed to friendships predicated on convenience). My family is very small and scattered, however some close relatives are here, but we actually see them way too often, haha. But yes, I'll definitely try and take it easy; I'm relieved to see that you'll be doing the same!

It's just pleasing to listen to because you never feel like it's pushing too hard to capture your attention, but you gradually fall into it and get swept along for the ride. I don’t know if any of that makes sense, but yeah, if you’ve got any thoughts on why you like it, I’d love to know. He's touring next year and is making a stop in SF in March, so maybe you can make it!

No worries! Your final sounds intense, but good job finishing--I'm proud of you (as if some stranger's internet validation mean anything :P). So did you end up finding anything good during your explorations? I don't have any special plans this year. Not really enough time to go anywhere since my days off are inconveniently split into two consecutive 4-day weekends, but I'll take what I can get. I sure hope you've got more exciting things going on this break! And yeah, I'm enjoying the Caribou album a lot! It only just grew on me with recent listens, but it's a definite favorite now. I think it's quite well done with the tired theme of love, which could very easily come off as overly saccharine or corny. It helps to explore different facets of it, and my favorite aspect of this record is how understated its exuberance can be. Even with the most danceable or Daphni-ish (that flute on "Mars"!) tracks, it feels restrained, but in a natural way.

That is very cool--congrats! Hope you bugged all your friends and all their friends to tune in! I know exactly what you mean about not having enough time to keep up with the relentless outpouring of new releases. Every year around this time, I feel like I've missed out on so much. But it's an impossible task to listen to everything, so I guess you just gotta do what you can and don't sweat it too much. So is your year-end list pretty much set then? It's lookin' pretty good. There's not much going on here in the city, especially since it's wintertime. It's just cold and dark, and no one wants to be outside. How's life been going in SF? That AWVFTS show looks excellent, so you better go! Oh and you're right that Chi-Town (and Chi-city, or worst yet: Chiraq) is only used by non-natives; Chicagoans will politely suppress their derision upon hearing it. I'm not from there, but even I find "Frisco" to be most abhorrent. Just reminds me of Crisco.

Ohh Tobias. Another fine mix! I think it flows really well, and the transitions are quite seamless most of the time. Your mixing skills are improving! I'm particularly fond of the first 30 minutes; you did a perfect job of selecting the tracks since they go together so, so well. Also liked that you included your own edits. Lots of new artists for me to dig into, so I'm appreciative of that! And I was pleased to hear that John Tejada remix thrown in because I consider it one of my favorite tracks of the year (like it much better than the original). I have to agree with you on the fact that it's just a bit too long, though I wouldn't go so far as to call it overkill. I had to take a break halfway, but was probably tired for other reasons, haha. Glad you found some stuff you liked in mine, and thanks for listening! I'd say round two has been a success! :)

No worries--take all the time you need since there's no rush. I'm sure it's gonna be two hours full of goodness. In fact, this is sort of a good thing (for me anyway), since I was planning on using this weekend to start working on mine. Now we'll both maybe finish around the same time. And thank heavens indeed. Have a pleasant break!

Okay cool, I was just about to ask what album to start with, so I'll definitely look into Neo Neo Acid. And no rush, gotta focus on school, of course. Looking forward to the next one, whenever it may be! And I'm super thrilled you enjoyed mine! I had a lot of fun putting it together since we're so compatible, I never even had to wonder whether or not you'd like a certain track. I just went, "Well if I like it, I think he will, too!", which made things very easy, haha. I think whenever I collect enough new tracks to make something substantial, I'll send 'em your way. So there will for sure be lots more mixes to come!

No, it's fine--I ended up downloading it so I could conveniently have it on hand, but thanks for the offer! I enjoyed listening to it and I think you did a fine job of putting it together. I liked the progression of mood/style and the variety! First time hearing Thom Yorke's cover, so that was a pleasant surprise. Loved that you used my fave Hauschildt track (was almost gonna include it too, haha). And Mystified Acid is so great--definitely need to dig into Tin Man's stuff. One more thing: hoooly crap at that Blawan track! I had to close my office door because I didn't want anyone to see me getting into it. Great collection of tunes, definitely hope you keep making more of these! :)

Oh whoa, you actually made a legit mix! Now I feel a bit bad for taking the lazy route and basically making a "playlist" (i.e., tossed all the tracks into a folder and zipped it). It's gonna be the soundtrack to my commute tomorrow, so I'm very excited to give it a listen! Also, I love Gilmore Girls and mid-life crises, so this is perfect already. Thanks for sharing!

As one of Andy Stott's biggest fans, you'll definitely have to let me know what you think of his newest album whenever you get a chance to hear it. I'm very curious to see how it stacks up for you :) And yeah, where the heck did this ##### guy come from! That 12" blew me away too, and agreed that the A-side is so ace. Haha, it's okay--not cheesy at all! Beautifully said, and I'm with you there. Having the right song play at the right time does wonders to enhance the overall experience, and in that rare moment when everything perfectly clicks...man, it's unbelievable.

I LOVE your description of the show because I can tell just how incredible it must’ve been, and your excitement and awe is palpable. It makes me happy to see other people so affected by music, so I’m glad you had such an awesome time! And definitely no rush at all to listen to that Vessel record. If you found Order of Noise to be abrasive, then I don’t know how you’re gonna react to this one :D But have you heard the Function & Vatican Shadow collab yet? I think you might enjoy it. It’s surprisingly ambient, but there are still some beats and stuff for a nice balance. Good for late night retrospection and listlessness.
