oh my god, you are so beautiful, I told you about it once on tumblr, but you are absolutely stunning! I just can't resist :D wonderful post about suicide, thank you for this so much. Even though i'm not suicidal atm, seeing that someone cares and that there's someone to talk to just in case really cheers me up. Thank you <3 also, it's fucking incredible to see you've been in touch with so many musicians, including Varg! How did you do it all :O

I'm glad you liked it. Check out Svartidauði and Carpe Noctem too sometime. Two more quality Icelandic black metal bands. I don't know what it is about Iceland either but you're right. With such a relatively small population they produce some very good music. It's a good thing when you find a band (or anything for that matter) that you're that passionate about and connect with. I was like that when I first heard Mgła. I played their discography over and over and still do to this day. The connection to certain art can be immensely powerful and magnetic.

It is an emotive album. Given the right state of mind or environment I could see it really taking me under in a good way. My emotions are kind of screwed up so sometimes I can't connect to things right away. It certainly wasn't bad but just wasn't what I was expecting at that time. Too much of a change too quickly for me I guess. After hearing Svartir sandar and then Ótta back to back was a bit of an overload. I haven't listened to it but I will. I want to give the others more listens too. I've been busy a lot recently so I haven't had much time to listen to music or especially to properly listen to new albums. Hopefully that will change soon.

Well I listened to it twice and enjoyed it but not as much as I did Svartir sandar. It had a more progressive and post-rock sound than I was expecting. It wasn't bad by any means but I prefer the harder edge that Svartir sandar had. It might be a grower album for me though. Time will tell on that front. I love the rush of discovering a new artist whose music I instantly connect with. Such a great feeling. It's been a while since I've had that.

Awesome. I'm going to give it a listen or two in the morning when I'm alert enough to fully take it in. I heard of them about a year or so ago but gave them a listen and wasn't too into it at the time. I must have been in an off mood because I don't know what I was thinking then. Better late than never though I guess. Ha ha, with the way you're listing it won't be long at all.

Hey, they're just *arctic* :P Well, I don't know much about the history of music either way, I wouldn't even know how to define underground music. I guess conventions define genres to start with, and younger musicians will initially copy their older colleagues, but then eventually develop their own sound if they last long enough. And those are the funnest, aren't they? Like Ulver or Solefald, they might've sounded like lots of other bands at the beginning, but then they come into their own and you're like, what music are they even playing? But I understand wanting to fit into the mold, human brain likes to categorize things and my, am I ever so guilty of that 'cause my memory's terrible!

Well, it seems we have music tastes in common (to a degree), as well as a certain lack of regard for most fellow BM fans? I gotta say, it's refreshing to see Sonata topping the charts of someone who's obviously very much into the trve, kvlt, frostbitten und krieg bands like Satyricon and Mayhem :D Though in addition to the fans I have to add I probably wouldn't like most of the dudes making the music either. After watching that black metal documentary once, what was it called, 'Until the Light Takes Us'? All I have to say is, Norwegian black metal dudes - what a bunch of privileged crybabies. Still, I find the music strangely relaxing.

Hi for the fist tme in 2010 :) I can see Ayreon is very high on your overall list. I discovered it not so long ago and I'm still stunned by how much it kicks ass \M/ I've just bought 2 CD "Universal Migrator" package and now I'm wandering which of the releases should go next. I have 3 candidates to chose among, and each of them is awesome :)
