Finally diving into HTRK (listening to Marry Me Tonight right now and the first track is fantastic, second does less for me) and was wondering if you have any recommendations for similar repetitive, bass-heavy, ominous stuff in that vein or like Carla Dal Forno

Tropic of Cancer is maybe a bit of a mix between the two but leans more abstract? Even some shoegaze elements mixed in. (and she has a 2012 EP with HTRK) I would say start with stop suffering and then Restless Idylls. The 2012 EP leans very post punk if you fancy that. Completely different ball park but I also think you should try James K for some airy bittersweet calm music, I feel like it soothes my nervous system <3 Nice to hear from you also :)

I cant actually think of a direct equivalent but worth checking out ex posh isolation artists. I really enjoy oqbqbo and alto aria, they’re worth a try. You might also enjoy some tracks on James K’s new album, it’s very emotional and still hits the synth cravings from croatian amor. HTRK adjacent possibly tropic of cancer and grouper’s headache. Happy to give more recommendations later 😊

Sweet! Thanks a lot. I'm very familiar with posh isolation artists/bands and the albums they put out after the label became defunct, just never had the time to listen but will def give them a shot! I'm quite surprised abt the label's history since they used to be black metal/noise focused. Tropic of cancer is awesome I need to listen more honestly

ironically, i don't go to many gigs these days and have always kind of disliked atonal since it relaunched (more a crowd than a line-up issue) so i doubt it! then again, they have merzbow, niecy blues, and djrum performing!? so it's a hard maybe!

tbf i've only been thrice if you're not counting the metabolic rift thing and the xenakis festival, the year of the relaunch (2012, 2013?) and then in maybe 2018, 2019 or so for a few concerts and briefly in 2023 for a dj gig. crowd seemed to be 96 % humourless black-clad tourists on ket and "enjoying yourself proibito" written on their foreheads. but maybe i'm being unfair and/or things have changed.

I did not, no! What were your highlights? Have heard some mixed stuff from other people. And yeah, my go-to festival here in Berlin is CTM, which is a whopping ten days, so ... Well, let's just say it was a lot easier when I was still in my 20s to deal with that.

Well it's one of those Christmas days. I compose this message with a standard uncertainty of ± 8 business days, the range is rather large but the equipment is old so a happy new year as well
