I saw "I Claudius" years and years ago in the US. We had a Black Wednesday at work--they let several of top brass go. Sadly, their assistants were laid off as well. I have to admit that those expunged were fairly worthless in the long run--mostly charged expensive lunches with no results (so I was told by a mate in the accounting office). Nonetheless, it cast a rather dour cloud around the building. I wish I lived exciting weekends like yours.... lol

You're right: he doesn't. Little Otik was the first Svankmajer film I saw, and it remains my favourite. It's sensational.

I think I happen to be the only living person who was no that impressed with "Citizen Kane." It was a very good film, but sometimes I think some films become famous for being famous. I was taken to task by a faculty member in graduate school when I said that. lol

I do read for a living but it is critical reading and rarely enjoyment. I direct the script acquisition and development units in London, New York and Los Angeles for a film company. We read submissions from agents and other sources and make recommendations. Much of what we read is total dreck. Then if the film is accepted and the budget approved, we work with the "makers" of the film to develop the shooting script. I've been working 2 years for them and a film that I've worked on has yet made it to the theaters. I feel like Sisyphus. LOL

well the CD version (which is better if you want a digital copy, clearer and mastered for digital) has a different tune at the end, which isn't as good but is still fun... I really like Heady Fwends, disjointed as it is. Ashes in the Air and Helping The Retarded are fucking heartbreaking! I'll have to up that later since I'm crunched for time right now though..

I've heard the new Lips album, actually! It's quite good, very dark, kinda deeper into the void than Embryonic but more controlled and minimal.. can't wait to hear the real, final, mastered release. and yeah, I can't get enough of this picture of them. more like the jazz Zeus and Hera!

It's streaming through Spotify! They also released a music video and have it streaming on sound cloud. It's way better than the Fire one... also: You have to play it LOUD... This song in particular needs it.

I watched the extended highlights of the derby. It's a shame Zaba's equalizer was in vain. I love it when he scores. Mario would be adored here in America, and rightly so. The media cast him as a villain early on and ran with it. I enjoy his off-field antics, especially how he drove that kid to school in his Maserati. It's almost performance art. You get the feeling that if he were white and born in England his behavior would be seen as "a lad being a lad". That part of English football culture is just shitty. The "I wish David Silva would TRY to learn English" type of comments, as though he owes a debt of gratitude to British culture. Repugnant. Oh well. If Mario gets a run of games, he'll score goals and the media and fans will be back on his side.

It got a 'special mention' because it affected me far more than any other album this year. By affected I mean... Made me question my sanity, head spin and feel that all other music is far too normal to compare. It was simply one of the weirdest albums I had heard this year and as fucking terrible and nonsensical as it was I couldn't hate it.

I rertet soo much not going to Pulp's Show here in Argentina, I Really wanted to but that very same day (it was a Thursday) I had to cover a Press Conferencce with many bands for a Festival (as a photographer), then a particular Interviw and had My house in the middle of Remodelation (Painting, etc) so I was Exhausted and didn't go! Now I Feel Bad, I Really wanted to go, Also to see Jarvis Manager, I met him when Jarvis played here solo, and he's Great Person. :( Next Time I don't care if the world is falling appart, I'll go for sure... =) How are you doing anyway?
