Yeah, TBC is classic for me but the level of musicianship and songwriting isn't anywhere near In Reverie and the albums that followed. Can't slow down was good for what it was (a blatant rip-off of Lifetime) but musically speaking it is not very impressive. What do you think of the lyrics on the trilogy albums? I think they got progressively worse, and I would even say that some of the lyrics on Daybreak are just plain bad. Chris went from using clever metaphors to describe how he was feeling to just blatantly stating his feelings, and sometimes it just sounds downright cheesy to me. I'm not a big lyrics guy though, so the fantastic music on Daybreak definitely trumps the lyrics for me.

I'm glad to see that you're a Saves The Day fan who actually appreciates good music and songwriting. A lot of old school Saves The Day "fans" refuse to listen to anything past SWYA just because Chris decided to progress as a songwriter and take his music in new directions. Sound The Alarm and In Reverie are pretty much interchangeable as far as being my favorite album. The level of musicianship on both albums is just great. Us Beatles/Saves The Day fans think alike! I'm very excited to hear the direction that Chris takes his music with this current lineup post-Daybreak.

i preordered it from their website before they announced the iTunes exclusive, but i'll probably shell out the money for that as well. my favorite album is In Reverie, followed by Sound The Alarm and Stay What You Are. Daybreak is probably going to rank 4th for me, followed by Through Being Cool and Under The Boards. How about you?

yeah i definitely hear the beatles influence. my favorites are Daybreak, E, and Chameleon (also Living WIthout Love and Undress Me but i kind of overplayed them when they were released a couple months ago).

alright mofofofo dont forget to blaze up celeste http://www.denovali.com/celeste/ their first demo pessimiste(s) is available on last.fm. its a bit less dense sounding, you'll probably really appreciate it. i prefer their albums, but its still ridiculous.. also, dont forget to blaze Mihai Edrisch, the screamo band they were in before celeste. amazing too... just basically, check out bare french artists. there seems to be an amazing scene over there.x

mate, check out both bands: 'la dispute' really beautiful, soft emo, with like poetic, half spoken half sung/screamed vocals. the track 'nobody, not even the rain' is making me feel ill right now..... also, check out 'pianos become the teeth'. more melodic punk, a more than life quality to them. voice breaks galore....

checked that track man, title fight/ it's not blowing me away, fairly solid melodic punk, but, not stomach rendering....needs some voice breaks..lol .how did you come across them?

yes you pedantic mother fucker. mate, re-read the lyrics to potemkin city limits on SC. i did a bit of reading about the album and it transpires that PCL (song not album) is based on a true story about this pig called francis that escaped a slaughterhouse and lived for 5 months free in the parklands before being captured. the abbatoir built a statue of a pig on the side of the road http://www.bigthings.ca/alberta/pictures/pig1.jpg to remind the city of 'the importance of hog production'. the lyrics are fucking amazing. everytime i hear the lines "replayed his only fond memory, just a warm and distant dream of his mother's loving eyes upon him" and "the panic grew as the humans stalked amongst them. when the screaming began, francis shut his eyes and felt the hand of inhumanity brush over him..." i literally want to cry. its definately my fav prop song of all time. GO VEGAN! x

can't predict if you'll like them or not, but i'm getting really into a band called 'twiggy frostbite' at the minute. theyre kinda like mew, swedish, icy pop music with subtle post rock influences and a slight element of electronica. lots of glockenspiel and tremolo picked guitars, really beautiful, sad but uplifting music. check out the song 'chimera', making me retch violently currently xxx

yeah black metal spree, just woke up craving it, you know what it's like. the twee is still hovering around. but the two styles are so incongruous. in a way its quite funny. been rinsing a japanese BM band called hakuja recently. you wouldn't ge tinto them but i think you would probably appreciate a lot of the chords/chord changes they use. they have a really nice sound. yeah WATT is a pretty good album, although prob not my fav, FC is a bit better for me. also, check out a song called 'thursday' by asobi seksu. it has been making me feel ill recently. theres a harmony in the chorus that i am certain will render yr stomach unusable.x

Hey, thanks for the recommend. I got the album a few days ago, it's a really great album, but for me I sway more towards Strawberry Jam style Animal Collective. Although, I think Merriweather would be really great live - speaking of which they are playing Leeds end of March, are you going? I'm thinking of tripping up for it.

It was Nic that suggested it to me actually. Just found a band on here that so far seems on the right musical road, so looking good so far. Plus it gives a few more emails to read which aren't completely irrelevant. Uni's ok cheers, I'm volunteering for some charity sandwich bar my mate runs and have joined the Fell club lol (also as one of their drivers) so I'll be walking a driving long distances this year = good. How's uni going for you so far? How do you prefer living off campus? Are you around on the 18th of October? Tis mine birthd and a few ppl are heading around the city, if you're back this way it would be lovely to have you join us.
