Congrats on the new babys, lovely news my friend. I was actually supposed to see Major Parkinson for the first time a couple of months back but the lead singer had a goddam heart attack right after a show in the UK (i think) and had to cancel the rest of the tour! So that sucked... But he's fine now and getting back on his feet as far as i know, pheew. 2020 sucked the fun out of everything didn't it? I'm slowly getting into concerts again: 100 Gecs, Rolo Tomassi and The Residents so far, in the last six months or so. And then Clown Core this saturday and the french madmen poiL in a couple of months. Pretty stoked about those two, i gotta admit.

I always thought of New wave as kind of lame and Blondie-y. But basically Talking Heads, XTC and Oingo Boingo were my stepping stone into the genre thanks to me perusing your library once upon a time. Yes! Suburban Lawns were admired even by Zappa, it all ties together! Have you been to any great shows lately?

Yo! Tom right? It's great hearing from you again. Thanks man, i keep coming back to your profile too to see what you're up to. You're basically the reason why i got into all the New Wave stuff some years back. I've really been digging into all the obscure New/No Wave/Post-Punk stuff lately and lots of Ska music in all it's different forms. It never seems to stop, damn you Bungle for ruining my mind all those years back!

Oh boy, I've been on a major New-Wave kick lately and i blame all that on Brian Eno! I basically only listened to Eno a couple of months back and I decided to check out some Talking Heads because of that connection. And now i can't escape that late 70s-early 80s sound, no matter how hard i try. It's like a sweet sweet virus of some sort. XTC are probably my favorite.

Honestly, i'm way more excited by Tub Ring's return than SOADs, Serj Tankian's voice has changed so much since the old days that judging purely by various youtube videos, it doesn't bode well. Alot of people shit on his solo career, i honestly wouldn't mind if he just kept doing what he's doing, But still, i am looking forward to the album... Sol Invictus was completely fine by me considering how long they've been away from eachother, seeing them live for the first time was quite the experience. I got to see Dillinger one last time. That was a moving evening, in a violent kinda way! Have you been to any live shows recently?

Yep that's the one, amazing shit indeed.. Ahh yes i remember reading that, a good guy that keneally.. The ghost of Zappa Definitely roams over his music, but only on a superficial level, his own personality definitely shines through.. Looking forward to be exploring him some more.. A recommendation for you my friend = Moondog aka. Louis Hardin. Get on it!

It's like a constant attack of British whimsy! Too much for me at the moment i guess, and too little diversity as you said.. On the other hand, i'm seriously diggin' Mike Keneally at the moment, have you seen him play Inca Roads on the acoustic guitar on youtube?.. I almost broke my jaw out of sheer amazement. Plus he seems like the nicest guy.

We have MUCH in common. I am now your friend, despite your say in the matter. What's up. Care to recommend me some music or discuss insect migration patterns?

I know! I really can't explain it. They should be right up my alley. And believe me, i've tried and then some, but i just end up feeling really annoyed with every album (Especially by Tim's voice)... I'm definitely open to the posibility that i'm completely missing something here, but i just can't put my finger on it yet. Very strange... Maybe if i give it some time and return to them, cause they are unique for sure, i want to like them.. Just out of curiosity, what made you a fan?

Yeah, about time! I remember finding out about them through you (If my memory serves me right). I listened to the first one and didn't think much of it actually.. Then last week i found out about their newest album and now i cant get enough of them. Twilight Cinema is a mindbender of the highest caliber. Norway in general has alot of great contemporary experimental artists actually.. Check out Moron Police, a hilarious fun band who opened for Major Parkinson some years ago (They even played in my town without my knowledge in 2012!).. Panzerpappa is another great Norway group in the RIO/Canterbury style.. I actually dont think the Handsome Devil comparison is that far off. They are both experimental genre benders, but very accesible at the same time and with a singer who sounds like Tom Waits and has mad swag! I prefer Godforbid though. Even his pronounciation of words are beyond cool : D

I'm glad my taste in music can inspire other people, very cool.. Your library are simply marvelous too!... I'm obssesed with Zappa! I have all the albums from Freak Out! up intil Joe's Garage with the expection of 200 Motels (Man, i really want that one). Cant wait to the get the rest, even though Gail Zappa is making it really difficult now with the withdrawel of his entire catalogue... Music is indeed the best, Cheers : )
