Nice to see you back, sable. I'll be getting round to commenting on the show reviews, or some of them anyway, soonish, I'm sure. Looks like you've had some good nights out though. I'm not really doing my version of SotD anymore as you may notice, but I'm doing odd journals here and there - trying to keep up my nwobhm band of the week entries but they're coming about once every three weeks at the moment. I'm still trying to expand my musical knowledge and 'repertoire' (if you wish to call it as such) so I'm looking forward to exchanging recommendations and things again.

Just thought, as you're a Zakk Wylde/Black Label Society fan, you should probably check out the last track ([track artist=derek sherinian]so far gone[/track] on Derek Sherinian's 2009 album [album artist=derek sherinian]molecular heinosity[/album]. Zakk cowrote the 7:24 long song and performs vocals and guitar - its pretty intense and rocking. Also performing are Tony Franklin (bass) and Brian Tichy (drums) as well as a cellist (I think that's the right word for someone who plays cello). Tichy was also credited as a coauthor of the song. Well, our beloved Cleveland Cavaliers are done, so is Dancing with the Stars (go easy on me for that...'twas a nice chance to spend quality family time, m'kay?), and school nearly is, so let's try easing back into this with a couple of overdue show reviews. Then there will be a bit of SotD backposting. I probably shouldn't, but there's some good stuff I don't wanna let go! And I'll try and see what y'all have been up to around here. \m/

I'm not even sure if people from outside the UK can see it on the BBC site if they did get there in time. Nevertheless, I will let you know if I see it scheduled for a repeat. It's all good stuff though, when they set out to do a documentary they always do it better than commercial channels. They do tend to put a British bias on things, but as far as I'm aware these two escaped that frequent prejudice.

At this rate, I'll probably forget before you show your face again, but the BBC just showed a very good documentary about Peter Green, which if there's any way you can find to see it I would highly recommend since you're a fan. There is (of course) the possiblity that it'll mostly be old news to you, but it's very well put together with some extensive interviews and I'm sure there'll be interesting nuggets of information to gleam from it. There was also a very good documentary a week previous on the British adoption (theft) of the blues in the 60s which took a wider look at the British blues movement and I'd also recommend if you get a chance.

Hey all! Yes, it's true! The "Song Of The Day" celebrated a two-year anniversary today (OK, yesterday by now). It was kind of a choppy back half of 2008 and still running late, but little by little we're roaring back. Had hoped to get back on schedule by today but I'm posting in chunks. Probably better anyway since that much at once would be too much for readers to take in easily. So, we're just celebrating in stride, with half of the Album of the Year Awards for the 1990s now up...enjoy!

That's a very organised schedule for changing avatars. I, on the other hand am only on my third avatar spanning 5 years and two usernames. This one being the only one in colour of the lot. The previous two being a miniaturisation of some sheet music (that you couldn't read because it was so small) and a diagram of a G Major chord for guitar. Eventually, I thought I was being quite dull with those two and changed for this one which is trimmed and rotated from a photo on a CD inlay. I guess I'm probably due for a new avatar as everyone else seems to change theirs quite regularly.

That avatar change was just to tease us into thinking you'd returned, wasn't it? I would make a joke referencing Chinese Democracy if only it hadn't come out. The world needs a new music based laughing stock for deadline keeping now, so I sense there's a vacancy - at least I expect you'll return before the Beatles reunion album initially slated for release in 2112.

Looking ahead: 2009 entries will probably be a mix of not-very-hefty and some extended posts the way it was in 2007. 2008 got to be very weighty and I got into a self-imposed expectation to be deep each day. Got to be unwieldy and also selfish...lots of you all have interesting things to say yourselves and I rarely found time to shut up and read yours in kind! So lots of reading still awaiting me. Also as of 2009, each Monday (or most) will be total-catalog "Manic Mondays" (Today was to be the first, but I see from here that something must have happened at home since nothing new is in the charts since 9 hours ago. So we'll restart again next week...hopefully not an omen for 2009!)

Hello all, and Happy New Year! Just getting back online after a holiday break which also included guests in the home for several days, kids illnesses, travels, etc. So yeah, SotD is still offline. Frustrating to me, but that's life. The brief all-in-one approach is what I've used in the past to catch up (or post ahead for vacations) and probably will again just because I am such a completist! But will be a mix of some chunks with a few specific entries - hopefully will still be interesting, Jonas! I still go through the habit each day of choosing a song, so wouldn't be inventing choices, just haven't had the time to get on the PC and get them all posted. Still have SotD entries for 90s and 00s, too, and also see lots in my replytracker and want to get on with being current.

Thank you for the pressent! Very timely! It's pretty good all the way through, save for Chuck Billy's contribution - a shame as the instrumentalists put in a good effort. I'm just left wondering whether Chuck is performing that way through choice or necessity. Don't worry about the Oyster Cult pointers, on finding this 5 discs for £13 deal I probably would have disregarded the advice in the name of value for money anyway - lol! I'd like to get through them all twice before forming/sharing much of an opinion, but I'm sure by that time I'll be eager to present my own thoughts whether you've prepared yours by then or not.
