Yeah - I just recently discovered Roger Miller. He's a winner - on the strength of what I could find on youtube - 'Do Wacka Do,' 'King of the Road,' 'Kansas City Star,' 'Chug-a-lug,' 'Husbands and Wives,' 'Dang Me' - I bought this: http://www.amazon.com/King-Road-Genius-Roger-Miller/dp/B000001EDZ/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1290330475&sr=8-9. I have to say that it wasn't exactly worth it, unfortunately - there were maybe another 4 or 5 songs that I liked on those 3 discs. A lot of it is poorly produced and the songwriting is generally pretty uninspired. But when he's good, he's a total charmer. Great voice. Terrific lyricist. His country skat ('Do Wacka Do' and 'Chug-a-lug' have good examples of this). And I love it when he plays with rhythms in his melodic lines. I don't know all that much country music - I fell deeply for Hank Williams recently and have found a few others since then - but I heard John Doe of the Sadies praise Miller on 'Fresh Air' (NPR), and checked him out.
