well according to the law in Bangalore any live performance at a place where alcohol is being served is illegal, in Bombay ....people are finding it hard to get venues for bands, all though the jazz, blues and the general rock scene is doing well in bombay and delhi, the govt has pretty much killed the Bangalore scene,..but thats alright..we always get the "big gigs" like Maiden, Megadeth....so we still manage to pull of the last laugh

Well scene here in India is still growing...seen Sam Dunn's Global Metal? Good documentary after Metal- a headbangers journey,...global metal covers the metal scene in brazil, india, china, japan, indonesia. We hardly get shows here dude...but nowadays we are getting some..bands that have come to India are Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Machine Head, Satyricon, Sahg (the ones I have seen)..otherwise Ensiferum played in BBy few days back, Anterior, Freak Kitchen, Detonation, Enslaved I have missed. Opeth is coming in Jan...so looking forward to that. Otherwise...local scene is fucked...the govt has put a ban on bands playing in clubs and pubs...so local bands are suffering a lot. Plus like u said most people in India will run away from metal, not just metal...most form of western music, plus there are the moral police who are globalization...consider western influences bad for "Indian Culture". And yes 90% of India still ride on Bollywood
