Hey pal, tudo bem por aqui! And how is it going over there? Hope everything's ok. Well, that was just a wrong wild guess from my side. Primavera has announced some of the first names for 2012 (recall that Guided by Voices, Yo La Tengo and Jeff Mangum were some of them) but not the Roses. Moreover, it was announced some weeks ago they'll be headlining Benicassim, so I guess (once again) they probably won't make Barcelona. Are you guys planning to attend Primavera (or any of the Roses' gig) next year?

Oh man, what a pity!! We still can't believe we're gonna see such incredible bands and visit such great places. Well, we just hope that the dusts from our friend Eyjafjallajökull don't burst our bubble (yeah, of course I copied and pasted its name :P)

Hey pal! How's it going!? You aren't, by any chance, visiting Barcelona by the end of May, are you? :)

hey man! Well, I've never tried either Squarepusher or Autechre, I only know them by name, but I'll give it a try. I know barely nothing when it comes to electronic, just a bit of some of the new ones (Death From Above, MSTRKRFT, Justice, if you consider them electronic :) and some of the famous ones (like Prodigy, Fatboy, Basement Jaxx). Nowadays, I'm more into post-rock, we're having a good time here in Brazil with a bunch of nice bands and festivals, this is slowly getting bigger. And sure, we can keep in touch by mail or phone (I'll send you my contacts by msg). I don't know yet how it's going to be next week, since I'll still be working (no vacation for now :(), but we can think about something for the night. Hopefully there will be something nice happening before the end of the year. And, as you may know, be prepared to a real hot weather, which is practically inevitable all over the country this time of the year :D Btw, Merry Xmas and a nice trip for you two :)

Hey pal! Yeah, I heard about "the horrible truth..." but I listened just to few songs, I recall it was somewhat hard to find. So you too read "Our band..."! How nice! :) Frankly, that's one of my fave ones, really. Well, I really heart to read about music, music journalism, and history. It's a pity that this kind of books is not that common over here (about both local and international music), they're becoming a bit more common just now. And about "new-kraut", I really didn't know. I found something about To Rococo Rot at last.fm but couldn't find Kreipler. I'll take a deeper look at them soon, thanks for the tip :) Btw, few days to come over here, huh? ;)

And yes, Mission of Burma! How awesome! Well, I must confess I'm deeply influenced by this "bible" called 'Our Band Could Be Your Band': I recall seeing something about the band from some Yo La Tengo's stories, but I discovered their music and whole history with "Our Band..." some years ago. And then inexplicably they went to a festival here, which was just incredible (it was in the ONoffON tour, I think). It was a terrific show, they're still great, with all that energy, even after so many years, but as you said, only few people there knew them. Btw, did you like Snapshot, the live one? Their version for Wipers' Youth of America just blew my mind :)

Hey man! No, I haven't listened Diplo yet, didn't know "decent pay for decent music" (which seems to be a great name, btw :). I've heard about Diplo some years ago, but I didn't tried yet

Well, I think my favorites are the most popular among old ones, Autobahn (I think the full record is amazing), Radioactivity and Trans-Europe Express. But the other albums also have great songs, it's hard to say which one is not a good record. So you mean you saw Laboratorio SP when you've been here!? Damn, it's one of the live acts that I'd like to see the most and I couldn't (they're already broken up). I like their "new mod" style as you said, it's like the old mod revival but faster, somewhat punky, great imho... my favorite mod one over here. But there some other good mod acts over here (even here in Campinas there's a good one called Del-o-Max, but it seems they're in a recent hiatus, not sure), but none of them as fast as Laboratorio :)

Oh, and there is another building quite near Galeria do Rock called Galeria Nova Barao, where you can find many other vinyl records store. That's the place where we'd spend lots of hours (and $ as well) when we go to SP. Strongly recommend this place for you, although I guess you should have the most part of the international records more easily available over there :)

Nah, it's not that big collection, but we have something like 10, counting LPs and EPs, from Ralf und Florian to Electric Cafe, plus Tour de France. All of then second hand, of course :) Yeah, there are some good record stores there. Baratos Afins, perhaps the most famous one, mainly for Brazilian music (which I'm not that familiar) and vinyls, is in Galeria do Rock. I've seen you're already aware of some good tips :D

Man, I must say I became a huge fan of kraut last years, mainly the 3 bands you mentioned plus Neu and Bowie's Berlin-era. But yes, it's hard to beat Kraftwerk. We even acquired a humble but very good Kraftwerk old vinyls collection here :) Regarding the documentary, I've watched it twice last week, I found it awesome http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3B89-69icyc

Hello! For your question about Autechre: maybe the last album (Quaristice), that is quite experimental and weird but features tracks of different styles. I think it depends of your taste. But i have to say that their first albums remain the best!

They label are here at São Paulo, and they sell not only the Akira record but some of Fellini too. It's called Baratos e Afins and is easy to find, it's at what we call Galeria do Rock, a type of gallery with small lp and cd stores. Fausto Fawcett is really cool too! Vzyadoq moe? I dunno much about them, but yes, I guess they are back!

sad but true! You would never find Akira S recs at Brasilia. They were a São Paulo band, and were pretty much underground, as fellini was. Almost nobody knows who they were. Brazil's music scene is full of pop and local sounds, but some great stuff like akira s and fellini are not well know on the masses... i wish that it was...

Hello. I downloaded all of this stuff online through Soulseek. It's a file sharing program, you can download it here. It takes some searching around, but eventually you find this material...though the Akira S stuff is hard to find. How did you first hear these Brazilian bands? I heard them through a couple compilations released in 2005...
