LAST FM has been sidelined since quite a while ago, nevertheless it is very useful to capture which tracks I have listened to week by week, month by month. I can't seem to get iTunes to do that with their smart playlists, and I use Spotify at work, and there I only play muzak ;)

lately the sounds of latin artists such as Francisca Valenzuela and Carla Morrison have invaded my life. Valenzuela sounds like very early Julieta Venegas, and Carla Morrison sounds like Tracyanne Campbell from Camera Obscura. I mention the similarities to find a common ground for new listeners, but the truth is that both possess their own particular style. Besides these girls, "Washed Out" is hellbent on cracking my top 10.

it was a nice week for R.E.M. , it started off with some hard work and my desire to listen to "finest worksong" and the IRS compilation album. Went to bed with "automatic" which I hadn't listened to completely in ages. Beautiful. The knife's new album, though unconventional and complex is fascinating me, and is rotating plenty on the ipod.

I remember that very clearly. T bone Burnett and his musical ensemble beating U2´s "All That You Can´t Leave Behind". I was disappointed because I considered the academy gave the award to a "very american" album in the aftermath of 9/11. Politics and the Grammys. Not good. I do not consider T Bone Burnett a rock god, he is a studio engineer basically. We can go on on and with this, I can pull out Norah Jones and prove you wrong and you can pull out Steely Dan and kick my butt. Anyways, the fact that I agree with the grammys this time around does not make me a grammy award fan. Lets see what happens nex year. Glad to have you around.

You should check out the PurpleChick mix of the Beach Boys' "Smile" if you haven't already heard it. Other than Pet Sounds, it's probably their best cd.
