I appeared the following year when the Earth's crust was slightly cooler (but the stuff happening on the planet was just about to heat up.) Listening to your Toots link as I type. Very nice- thank you! Our "compatibility" is low and we focus on different genres but I'm sure there's quite a bit of crossover, too. :-)

Hi Radish, sorry I did not get back to you on your last post, things got a bit hectic here before Christmas. I checked out The Majestic Silver Strings on YouTube and liked it. On your reccommendation I also bought The Horse Flies "Human Fly", fine folk with a difference. Had a listen to taintradio, certainly not the usual programming. Bit too much classical on the show I caught, but looks interesting and I will listen to a few more shows. You are right, we do have very similar taste in music i.e. catholic. I enjoy looking through your top artists and researching any I have not heard before. Just ordered some Steve Lacy, The Impressions, Robert Nighthawk and Los Zafiros. But the purchase I am most looking forward to is Dusty In Memphis (Analogue Productions) remastered from the original tapes and pressed on 45rpm vinyl, but that will not scrobble. Good to hear from you.

Thanks for the reccommendations, I have Dan Penn's "Do Right Man" which I really like. I am already bidding on Steve Cropper's The "5" Royales tribute on eBay. Caught Steve Cropper, Donald "Duck" Dunn and Eddie Floyd as "STAX" at the local Southern Fried Festival in Perth last month, best act on the bill! I will check out the others. I see you were listening to some Doug Sahm, one of my favourite Texans. Check out the album "Doug Sahm And Band" produced by Jerry Wexler and Arif Mardin and featuring Bob Dylan, Dr. John, David "Fathead" Newman, David Bromberg, and Flaco Jimenez to name a few. Thanks again.

Radish - Rhapsody is only available in the US, so much for the special relationship! Even if it was over here in Bonnie Scotland I do not think I would use it much as I am not fond of the lifeless sound of mp3s. I am an audiophile as well as music fan and, when not listening to my vinyl, I get my music by ripping CDs to lossless FLAC files, 35,000 so far. I buy the CDs secondhand on eBay and Amazon and then sell them again, often only having to pay for the postage. It is not for everybody but it works for me. What I really want is access to great sounding 24bit 96kHz or higher files like those available on HDTracks.com but again they do not sell outside the US. I cannot wait for the future, I do not have the time left, I want it all now!

Although I have been a member of LastFM for a couple of years I have only started to appreciate just how good LastFM is. I was exploring my neighbours and was intrigued to see how similar our tastes in music are. So much so that I have just ordered some CDs by artists you have that I have not heard, namely James Carr, Don Byron, Faron Young and Buddy Miller. All this technology is a great thing, 40 years ago all I had to go on was John Peel and the NME. Thanks!

What a treat that would have been to have seen Eugene Chadbourne and Jimmy Carl Black's "Jack and Jim Show" live. A unique mix of musical mayhem and history lesson. I've been fortunate enough to meet and speak to some of the original Mothers over the years. Great musicians and people.

Interesting meanderings going on here! You never hear of a Buddhist going on a bloody murderous rampage, now do you?

You get an eclectic blend of stuff listening to my interweb wireless although it make the question, "What music do you listen to?" extremely hard to answer!

A fellow Beefheart fan. Excellent!! I can see by your age that you are old enough to have seen the Captain with the one of the original Magic Bands, so did you ever get the chance? I saw Captain Beefheart about half a dozen times from 1972 through 1980 and it was always an enjoyable show, even when most of the audience didn't quite "get" the music.
