I really don't even know which album it was we listened to. But if you say that "Larks' Tongues in Aspic" does that to you then I certainly will be getting that one as soon as my finances will allow. I've over-spent already. I just bought an album I've been trying to find for over 30 years. When I get it I'll do a review of it in a journal entry. I'll even include where to buy it since none of the normal outlets have it.

I like your insight. My first experience with King Crimson was "Court of the Crimson King" which was played to death by the radio stations. This probably hurt King Crimson more than anything. A friend of mine put his newly bought LP of theirs on and we sat on his bed to listen to it. The music picked us up, took us somewhere else in this universe, showed us so many more sights than our eyes can see and then gently put us back on his bed. We sat there motionless, silent, for several minutes after the turntable moved its arm to the resting position. Then, I think, "WOW" was the first word uttered. That's the best I can do to describe what happened. No drugs involved. I do understand your love for them.

I think it has to do with the fact that I was a teenager and we were just coming out of the Beach Boys, Beatles, surfing do-dah crap of the 60's. When I found a group like Pink Floyd or Moody Blues, It was wonderful, refreshing, honest music. Even Simon & Garfunkel was a breath of fresh air in the over played bubblegum era. (Does anyone remember the 1910 Fruitgum Company?) Oh, the horrors I could tell you about growing up in the 60's. The brain washing, the pummelling of our senses by the music companies. Pink Floyd was a salvation for us. And then came Jethro Tull. All to often he sang the songs of my heart. And there you have it... the reasons why Pink Floyd and Jethro Tull are so important to me. King Crimson came later. I do love their music, but it just hasn't been as important.
