Hey bud, No plans to play Roanoke anytime this spring - maybe summer. We are going to be doing Macrock on April 1, Winston-Salem on May 13 and Richmond on May 14. That's all we have planned for the moment.

Howdy sir! I heard a rumor y'all might be playin at the Bazaar soon. Is that true? I'd love to catch it, and catch up! Also, any word on the Mac Rock show? In any case, I hope you are well!

Eh, only a couple of listens. I like some of his stuff, but otherwise have a difficult time listening for an entire album.

Say, have you heard this new album by Roky Erickson, backed / produced by Okkervil River? Called "True Love Cast Out All Evil," and it is *effing* good! Took me a couple listens to get used to his voice, but I am hooked now. Highly recommended!

Yeah, I like that album pretty well -- I adore the song, "We're All in This Alone." I think I probably like the album "Fortune" the best, though. And though I think it got a mixed reception (for being an odd grab-bag of leftovers as the band was splitting up), my second favorite album is probably their final one, "30 Year Low + The Final Remarks of the Legendary Malcontent." If nothing else, listening to some of those songs while thinking about the fact that they were in the process of getting divorced and discontinuing the band -- while still making the album! -- intrigues me to no end (e.g., both singers seem to have songs about their discontents with the other). : ) I'm impressed at their determination to make the album in spite of their inability to maintain the relationship or the band. On the other hand, given the bluntness of some of the songs on that album (in terms of unflinchingly portraying how they see one another) perhaps they were always doomed. Fascinating psychodrama!

Say -- speaking of songs with great lyrics for those who prefer songs without them (as we were last night) -- check out "Metro Pictures" by [artist]The Mendoza Line[/artist]. Check out many many songs by them if you aren't familiar with them (I'm rather addicted!) but that one has particularly wonderful wording. Performance-wise, I prefer the "Alternate Take" of the song, which appeared on their final album, "30 Year Low + The Final Remarks of the Legendary Malcontent." If you're curious but can't find this stuff to listen to anywhere, lemme know and I'll burn ya a copy... Cheers!

Hah hah, yeah, y'all only have 4 trax but they are really exquisite in my opinion. : ) Like I mentioned once before, it's one of my number-one go-to albums to get me in the right frame of mind while working on my novel. As for Yo La Tengo, I've always particularly loved Electropura, though the albums you noted are also high on my list. The Sounds of the Sounds of Science is also a beautiful score. As for that Kirk Ave show -- wow! I did *not* know about that show but it sounds killer! Steph and I are arriving back from Texas that night (via car) so that might complicate things, but I definitely want to see it if I can. It is Kirk Ave that you meant for the 29th, right? Turns out that one of the two owners is in my playwriting class -- she's really nice! I mentioned to her that y'all are superb, and if I remember correctly, she's already a fan.

Ah, I see you too are a Yo La Tengo aficionado! I adore those chaps. : ) Favorite album by them? Also, y'all gonna play Kirk Avenue any time? I love that venue, and I'd love to see y'all play there.

Howdy sir! This is Adam -- I just sent you a friend request. I guess that would have my name on it too, so me telling you this here is probably inane, or at least pointless. But at this point I've already typed this much of it so I'm just gonna say "Hands off!" and watch the car go over the side... or something... :-P
