You've just brought a sweet memory to my mind by mentioning Les Frères Mégri. And guess what?! I am quiet surprised that you know about them, really... Unfortunately, I only have cassette tape of them (which are not mine actually) and audio quality is not terrible, neither. It's difficult to have them on mp3 format. I am sorry, If I am useless at this point. Nevertheless, I'll ask some friends. I have more recommendations (all Arabic) for you. Try: Soap Kills (songs: Wadih, Tango, Cheftak), Mashrou' Leila (songs: Raasuk, Inni Mnih, Shim el Yasmine) and TĀLĀ (songs: Serbia, Alchemy). I hope you'll like them. Have fun!

Thank you for your suggestion! Indeed this version seems very cool it's haunting and somehow better than the original. I don't know if you like French rock songs, but well... try La Pinède by Feu! Chatterton. You might like it!

Everyone is talking about Syro..but I just don't get it..I have listened to it a few times, but it is not clicking! But Caribou is..I love it. Best album of the year? Maybe! The last few months have been great, there are some great albums released. Thom Yorke's freebie, A Winged Victory for the Sullen, Kiasmos (I have a ticket to see Olafur Arnaulds in Dublin next year!!). Royksopp totally passed me by...is the album any good? Then there is Dntel and Grouper..I have yet to listen to those in full.

Oh I'm totally with you. I have the Raw Like Sushi vinyl and everything (huge fan of her old school days!) but this is something eelse. :) It'll be hard for someone else to top this for the rest of the year. It gave me a similar feeling as Portishead's Third, only Warner (?) this time..?

Hey! 2014 has been pretty slow music-wise for me. Alot of the bands I enjoy have released albums in 2013 so I have been mainly listening to them..new music? There is some great music released by Angel Olsen, Sun Kil Moon, Death Vessel, and the War on Drugs. I had a listen to Broken Bells' record "After the Disco" and wasn't impressed. Some of the tracks on Wild Beasts' album are pretty good. I need to listen to the Elbow album a little more.. The Timbre Timber album is out soon..oh and don't forget to get the Shakira album too (joking lol)

I feel like I'm totally against the general wave once again loool (what's wrong with a perfect pastiche? Specially when there is virtually no one - not even the much lauded Jagwar Ma - doing it as good as they are atm )

Yes, it's their most "insular" but definitely top 3. :) I'm in love with the new Cut Copy - not that I haven't been in love with all their previous albums, but this one is pretty special.

I agree. It is far too early. There are alot of albums released this year that I really like compared to 2012. The reason for that is I have been recommended a lot of albums. Like factory floor and darkside. I don't think I would have heard it without a recommendation. Juana molina also. You can hear one of her songs on you tube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UF28IgHV1pk it is very catchy

If you gave me that album with a blank cover, I'd never say it was made by the field. New style, much darker, but I love it. I haven't got tired of it yet. It will be hard to do a top 5 albums at the end of the year. At the moment, Forest Swords and the Maps album lead the way. And then Darkside.

It took me a while to get used to get used to it..give it a few more listens. No. No..really stands out for me. But you are right..the previous albums are better.

Next is a band from Iceland called Samaris...quiet..haunting..and where else have you heard beats and a clarinet in the same band... www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRGd3mojFmE I love the maps album. Yes..it is longer but I don't mind that. AMA is one of my favourite tracks of the year. There are a number of albums I have yet to go near..Chvrches, the new Four Tet and the new Factory Floor album. I have just started the FF one..they are original and I'm not sure what to think of it. I haven't listened to the other albums you have mentioned. I have gone off Tired Pony. It's easy for me to get bored of their music :)

Hey! I have listened to alot of new music lately..it is hard keeping track of it all. I have other albums on iTunes that I haven't listened to also!! Ok...Here goes..You need to listen to a band called Forest Swords..www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5JEd4KWW5M. I love that album. It is prob my favourite album this year. Next is Julianna Barwick...you probably know of her if you like Sigur Ros and Jonsi & Alex. Her album Nepenthe is amazing..have a listen...www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIQVjRCL6jI I am still listening to Kveikur..Sigur Ros are playing here in Dublin in November so I am looking forward to that. I picked up an album called Plume by Loscil. It was released in 2006 but I really like it. I will check out is other albums soon. www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7rUrh5AouY The Field's album is just bliss. I don't think it is better than his last album and it is shorter..that is not a bad thing..there is one track on it called No No..that is heaven! www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvkBFUMMMIw

Yep, I like it...I can't compare it to any other album they have written, not even Von. My favourite SR album is Takk... It is better in places than Takk. I really like Rafstraumer and Stormur and Isjaki is growing on me.

Yep, and I really really liked that! I saw them once again three weeks ago at Primavera Sound, always super! Along with Phoenix and My Bloody Valentine they have been some of the highlights of the festival! For Frank Ocean, I still don't know whether I will go or not since it's sold out and I've decided too recently to go to Copenhagen. I'm on the waiting list, if no ticket comes up I will see Suede that evening instead :)

I can't get my head around the Knife album. It isn't great on the ear, but maybe a few more listens and I will like it more. That second track is just strange! Pure psychadelica! I've got bought the Oblivion soundtrack also, it was composed by M83. Don't like the film but the music is great! There are new albums by Deerhunter and Neon Neon out soon, and check out Kodaline..they are an Irish band that will be v big soon!

I like it a lot actually, it will be for sure in my top 10 albums for 2013. I definitely prefer Justified over FS/LS and I think that 20/20 is on the same level as Justified. It's quite long and I've serious problems with tracks over 4:30 minutes, but Justin managed to retain my attention from the beginning to the end :)
