The only problem is that those conversations tend to dwell on one space of her career. I could see that if Janet had peaked and then fell off, but even when her commercial stats cooled, she made solid R&B records. I tend to just kind of take everything most people say about her with a grain of salt, but there have been some good essays out there of late on RN1814.

I did like it, not more than "X" or "Body Language" when talking about her Parlophone stuff, but it was good. "Kylie Minogue" (1994) is her watermark imho.

I skimmed Kylie's NYT interview, most of it was nothing new. She better not fuck up this record is all I've got to say. No, I need to check out Chrisette's NPR interview, and I've been well but busy.

Yeh, it doesn't move me much. My faves from her are "Janet Jackson," "Control," "The Velvet Rope," "Damita Jo," and "20 Y.O."

Yeh, that's like one of my least favorite albums of hers. I'm glad that she confirmed she's working again.

Sorry for my late reply. He took House of Ballons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence and released them all together remastered. The remaster touches are light though. The Aaliyah sample is removed from "What You Need." I was a big fan of the mixtapes, I'm glad it got a proper release.

Decent, "Flower," "Finer Feelings" (which I loved in its 7" edit from '91), and "The Locomotion" are required listens. But Kylie always takes care of business imho.

Today however is Janet's 30th b-day, musically, her debut came out a 30 years ago today in '82.

I'll wait for TVR to hit 20 before I weigh in. I do have reviews for Melanie C & No Doubt's new platters round the bend.

I don't find them mutually exclusive, Ms. Dennis that is, it was her penmanship reaching its climax on her third LP, one of the most underrated pop records of the '90's ("Am I the Kinda Girl", 1996) that has endeared me to her. Have you heard it? If not, get on the ball. :)
