I'm fine but a weather has surprised me in my city . Now :spring , flowers start to blossom - snowdrops and narcissuses and only and only begin to bloom tulips :), and here suddenly - an early autumn: rain, dull, wind.

I'm off to see KATATONIA (w/ Long Distance Calling and Swallow the Sun) tonight....2nd time, hoping it'll be sick....if you're liking Summoning and that kind of stuff, try Abigor as they're related...also if you wanna try some proper nasty, vicious shit then Krieg, Blut Aus Nord, Bethlehem, and Hate Forest are all well worth checking out...i reckon you'd like Drudkh too, if you're into more folky stuff.

haha:) nice, I like funs and humor.Russian humor a very strange, beside us love and can laugh a little on itself. For exemple - "Russia never will get up on lap - we what lay so and shall lie" ,"beside us will not be an Doom's Day - his(its) will simply deride" .Well you understand, on native language this sounds as it is necessary:) In my city does not a gothic party and other non-standard action:(

Nice to meet you :) my name is Sergey. The most loving band for me it's Joy Division:) and I very like The Cure , voice of Robert Smith gets into my soul - Lovesong, Let's go to bed and more etc =) Yes , I know Cambridge .This city causes assotiations beside me - universities, studies xD .In Ukraine election of the president, again xD:) this is for me - simply circus .I don't think that life will change . I live in Sevastopol , this is Crimea - Black Sea :) and our people very likes Russia and wants that Ukraine and Russia have friendship . I think ,about former president - Yuschenko that his(its) policy was in personal interest only or advantage only for itself ,but not in the least not in interest of folk :) he has taken in these choice whole only 5 % xDD :) I think - each person builder of its happiness :)

Oh ,yes:) I not very like revival , more like - oldschool.hmmm SoM and FotN - this is gothic-rock , but goth-rock this is a gloomy and depressive post-punk , this is my opinion :) for example The Cure - Pornography ,Death Cult - Ghost Dance , Joy Division (?) , Sex Gang Children ( positive punk?) etc=)

Well since you're way into the 'gothier' rocks I think "A Sullen Sky" from their second album Diminuendo might convince you (worked for me!), or maybe "Forever Filthy" and "In Thankful Hands" from Godhead, their third. But then again the first one, Permanent Sleep, and debut ep Rain from 1985 (reissued together), have this grand rawness of melancholy ("A Year Past July", "Wild Swan" etc) that'd be enough to captivate, I'm sure - it kinda reminds me a little of Disintegration actually. Go for San Antorium for something more airy and life-affirming. Also there is of course the comp Eternity Road that spans all their years all they way to their last, almost lost album Gush ("Truth in Needles", "Swell") from 1995. Tho I must say, this was indeed a band that wrote no not-good songs, so go for whatever looks intriguing to you! And sorry about this novel in your shoutbox! ; )

Haha yes....you get plenty of people who went to see loads of bands like that in the 80s several times and I'm just like.....WHY AM I NOT YOU!?!?!?!!? I suppose its enough that the actual music itself still exists and still brings awesomeness....but sometimes I'd give anything to have been there, seeing as music culture (of that kind, anyway) is pretty much dead and has been for quite a long time >_< At least there's still a few people keeping the faith

See, I don't really like arenas.....seeing The Cure could be great but I prefer being able to see the band I went to go and watch! I've only seen one arena gig (Iron Maiden) and that just put me off cause you look over the thousands of heads infront of yours and think...."is that really them?"....smaller venues are so much better, it makes the whole experience worth it. That's why I'd like to have seen the cure in the 80s...*daydreams* and don't worry about flooding my shoutbox, this is a good conversation! I don't often get to chat with people who like this kind of music as much as I do, its a good thing :) x

LOL.....well, there's a few good 'uns on that list (Cure, Sisters, Siouxsie, Killing Joke, Cult, Bauhaus, Joy Division all brilliant) but...My Chemical Romance? Am I missing something or would anyone out there care to tell me what that band is doing on that list? Goth is a music genre, not just a fashion statement. That's the NME for you I guess...You have all but 1 of The Cure albums? 0.0 noice, I have 4 (17s, Faith, Pornography, Disintegration)...I was thinking of getting "Wish" but it just hasn't happened yet =S....and you saw them live? very cool, I missed their last UK shows (october or something?) cause I was too busy being REALLY into the albums i didn't know there was a tour on! So now I'm a bit more alert, managed to catch the Sisters a couple of weeks ago and that was fun and I have Killing Joke coming up which will also be wicked : )x

One thing you have to remember is the NME are a bunch of twats : ) Morrissey hates them, Robert Smith hates them, Andrew Eldritch hates them....basically just a shit magazine labelling modern mainstream pop/rock as "indie" and selling it to a bunch of clueless arseholes. I mean I don't want to sound like an elitist but....for fucks sake! These people don't have a clue because they're happy to be spoon-fed opinions and tastes instead of finding things for themselves. I too have many favourite Cure tracks, I was a very casual listener for a while (literally knew 1 or 2 of their big tunes) but it ended up being "Pornography" which got me into them, I was told It'd be for me cause I love Joy Division...and it was =p jumped in at the deep end there and it wasn't hugely accessible straight away but it worked its way into my head and for a long time was the only thing in the world I needed to hear. Still love it.....and them came the Cure obsession >_< : )
