coool, dloading that chromatic. Deepchord Presents Echospace has been one of my fav ambient/ambient dub/dub techno artists lately (albums: "The Coldest Season" and "Silent World") - i found them insanely boring at first but one day they just clicked so hard. and new Dirty Beaches (double album) is mostly ambient-like too, really moody stuff. and Swarms - "Old Raves End" is pretty, lush, nice Burial-like stuff.

hm i've been pretty out of touch with music lately too and listening to pretty 'safe' stuff -- nothing new or exciting, just stuff like Jay Reatard and Purplene. i think a lot of it has to do with my ipod dying on me like 4 times throughout the year and i'm too lazy to put everything back on it. there has been a bunch of big stuff released this year but i don't like em very much; My Bloody Valentine, The Drones, Deerhunter, Yo La Tengo, Thee Oh Sees. new The Knife, Flaming Lips and Nick Cave are Big things i haven't checked out yet. new Kurt Vile is getting a lot of buzz and is pretty nice but so unexceptional. i liked new David Bowie. The World Is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die have an album out, and new Eluvium seemed like pretty nice ambient.

Ben Frost is pretty rad from what I've heard ('Theory of Machines' and 'By the Throat') and from your description I'll definitely have to listen to it ASAP. I've never heard of Liars, what is a good place to start with them? I haven't had any disappointing albums for 2012 yet. Of course yet is the operative word since I've got like thirty albums I haven't listened to still.

ah ok well none of the things i rec'd weren't wall of noise type stuff. i think you may have missed the shout before my previous shout where i said i haven't ever listened to any swans yet ;-; so i don't know if sightings sound like swans sans rock, but my preconceived notion of swans' sound is that they are noise rock leaning much more to noise/industrial, and that's kinda what sightings is like. i ended up buying arrived in gold digitally, i could probably upload it if you want. how did you like their other album? haven't listened to that one yet.

atm i'm pretty interested in listening to a lot of off-the-wall/atypical noise rock/no wave/experimental rock type stuff. really digging stuff like Dog Faced Hermans, Ex Models and Black Eyes. i think you might dig em. and i listened to the band Sightings for the first time yesterday, and its what i imagine Swans to sound like; noise rock without the rock, mostly leaning towards noise/industrial stuff.

its ok i dont think new xiu xiu is essential, but if you liked dear god, you'd like new one. i never have listened to swans :S i remember having a bunch of their old albums on my ipod for ages, but they seemed very daunting, so i never got around to em. and since itunes killed everything off of my ipod early this year i never put swans back on :[ what's a good place to start? i never really liked that one liar album i heard (drums not dead) and AnCo that much. i was forced to listen to their very newest song (today's supernatural?) and liked it though.

SDC is the shit. Can't wait for the new album (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLX-LuysVh8). Nah, I hadn't. I don't usually listen to many compilations. Generally that's for when I'm starting to explore genres I'm not as familiar with.

Dude. philosophy/politics/law. hotdam. yea a lot my friends went to uwa :( so at uni atm i'm kind of lonely. like i have made friends but only talk to them while i'm w/ them in class - outside of class during breaks and stuff don't really talk to people unless i run into some old high school friend which is always nice (but rare). i've considered joining clubs but IDK. like i need to go with someone i already know, you know? there's this big social network group club thing for pharmacy students but it seems like the Main friend guy i got doesn't really want to join it so i'm like 'yah me neither...' honestly the worst thing though is just losing touch/growing apart from all my high school friends who i used to see everyday. i can't even bring myself to talk to them on facebook and only a couple really initiate conversations with on fb chat. depressing. during yr 12 my parents were strict as fuck and i didnt go out much so i guess thats why they dont rly invite me to things now.

Hi there. I would start "at the beginning" so to speak. To be honest, I prefer his earlier work, and based on your listening habits, I think you will too.

yea swell maps and wire are cool. planning on listening to more post-punk stuff in the coming weeks - i still haven't listened to a lot of the obvious ones like the fall, public image ltd, gang of four, etc which i've been meaning to do for years now. will check out those two folk punk bands you rec'd. i haven't listened to much folk punk at all but enjoy the ones i have a lot.

oops i missed those last 2 shouts. didnt like cloud skatin that much as a whole :( danny brown verse was cool though of course. that schoolboy q song seemed decent might dload the album. def will look into saddest landscape album when i'm in the mood. thankss. hm i'm really into andrew jackson jihad atm. only started listening to them like two weeks ago. is it odd that some of the first thoughts that come to mind while listening to them are 'cute' and 'adorable'? brave as a noun makes me uncontrollably smile =]

oh yea talabot was nice, only have given it like 2 listens tho. haven't listened to any saddest landscape since like 2008 - but apart from those two i haven't listened to anything else you mentioned. not really into the whole cloud rap thing (which is what i assume schoolboy n spaceghostwhatever are) :( apart from danny brown if he counts. i'll look into those other things though.

haven't been cause i don't really have anyone to go with. don't know many people irl with similar tastes and i bet i'd just be awkward as fuck if i went alone. the national are amazing >:{ beach house are boring though yea. fav release so far is probably burial - kindred but i haven't listened to many 2012 stuff yet. there's also mirrorring which is a collab between Grouper and some other chick which may be my #2. i subscribed cause i thought i was going to use the recommendation radio but i havent so that was a waste of like 9$ or whatever.
