i guess i haven't been scroobling (sp? what's it called?) but i've been listening a lot of trash metal and rap on the treadmill. sadly, at home i've been listening to a lot of news and political stuff. got any recommendations? i need some freshness.

Don't hold off too long on No Becoming. I didn't want to overplay it so I listened to his last one and wasn't nearly as impressed, so I can see how his other stuff might not be as good. This one uses a lot more guitar and vocals buried in there as well, and it's all the better for it. Yup, new Caminiti album came out in April. It's a lot like West Winds, maybe even more Steven R. Smith-like. Apparently there's new Barn Owl coming out soon as well, not to mention he's part of Higuma who also put out a pretty great album this year.

I'm not convinced that Sean McCann is any good. Does he have one particularly great album? You should listen to Lee Noble's album No Becoming if you haven't, it's pretty awesome. Download is pretty easy to find, or it's here http://leenoble.bandcamp.com/album/no-becoming.

Eh, didn't make it to Pink Reason out of sheer laziness. I'm sure it would have sucked; I've seen videos and they're pretty sloppy live (I do like the slow, extended version of "Borrowed Time" though). The cover art is terrible, I don't know what he was thinking. Thee Oh Sees were incredible as always. Possibly the best live band today. Have you seen them?

Not sure how excited I am for the latter. New Oh Sees should be good, like a better Dog Poison, but the album they're releasing later this year has potential to be their best (judging by some live songs I saw them play).

It's a lot more shoegaze than I expected. Then again, I've not heard much Belong -- only October Language once or twice a long time ago, so I'm not sure how it compares. Either way, it's pretty good and could grow on me over time. I'll send along a link.

New Tim Hecker and Pink Reason LPs can't come fast enough (though there's still no firm release date for the latter, it's allegedly coming out next month). I feel the same way about the new NSB as I did about the most recent TSM. That is, they are both dwarfed by two seriously awesome predecessors (not counting that digital only album). It might be a grower, though.

Shit, why didn't you ever tell me about the Pin Group? I didn't really dig their track on the Flying Nun box so I never checked them out. But this is great -- some of it sounds a lot like the Terminals.

yeah i think i want to relocate to somewhere closer to seoul instead of staying in bundang. but who knows. i like it here but i feel as though i may as well try somewhere new if i have the chance. i've only been to hongdae and handful of times, but i really liked it there. not sure if i could live there though. anyyyywayyyys, i'm not much of a liars fan, which is to say i haven't really listened to them much. so i doubt i'll be going to the show, unless it's something i should not miss?

Yeah, I'm not too fond of the new BR. I probably won't see them...I saw them when 23 came out (so also about three years ago) and while it sounded good, it wasn't the most exciting live show. Even though it's no Thankyou Very Much, the new Melchior is probably his most cohesive album at least. Albums like O Clouds Unfold are way too bloated for my taste (even if there are some great songs hidden in there). I like the new Galbraith. I mean, to me he's kind of like Pumice...always kind of the same stuff, but always fucking good. Yeah, Ulaan Khol's I has been blowing me away for a while now, so I finally though I should check out some other Steven R. Smith projects. Hala Strana is pretty good, and his album Cities is incredible. You're right about the new Intelligence. It's their most straightforward, boring album...and they really ruined "The Beetles" (along with the other two re-recorded songs, "The Universe" and "Like x 7." Unfortunately I missed out on A-Frames because I got scheduled at work. Oh well, lots of cool shows coming up in September.

I like some of the songs on the Big Blood album I listened to...mainly the ones that bury the woman's voice under the instruments, or that don't really feature her. I'm not ready to give up on them yet, but I have a feeling that she's featured prominently on most of their songs. You're right, there has been a sad lack of new music lately. It's given me a chance to catch up on stuff I've been meaning to get, though...like Zelienople. Holy shit these guys are great. The new Twinsistermoon apparently shipped, so look forward to that popping up on the Internet in the very near future.
