Of course you're right. I was only commenting on how I found movies as a non-movie buff. But absolutely... seeing the images associated with the music makes the score that much more powerful. ...I find myself going back at times and re-watching movies to identify the scene where some music was used if I don't recognize it.

There's more Hobbit movies coming? ...Not much of a film guy here. I'd read The Hobbit and the Trilogy once a year for years before it was made into a movie ...which I even refused to see until maybe a month ago. The voices are always wrong in the adaptations : / ...I've found many films I enjoyed greatly by hearing the soundtrack on here and then looking up the movie.

I love Zimmer and Shore's film score work. Just got done downloading the entire TLOR soundtrack : )

I played the original DE a lot back in the day, I never tried the sequel though. The last game I played from beginning to end was Half-Life 2 over half a year ago... amazing

"LOTR will go down in history as one of the most epic scores ever. Its weird how NONE of his other work even remotely compares. Or is it just me? x_x " I may be completely wrong, but I think I read somewhere that most film composers take a few weeks to make a film score, but that he took a year to write and record each of the LotR soundtracks...I think that might explain why they are superior to anything he's ever done...(or, in my humble opinion, to any other soundtrack.)

Hey, Howard Shore's scores for The Departed and Eastern Promises are nice too, just not as epic as the ones for LOTR. But especially the Song Tatiana from EP is a great piece of music. And additionally these scores show, that Shore can really compose for every mood and with every instrument. Those guitars used in the Departed score are nice and give me chills. Have a nice day ;)

So if I could recommend something from my library it would be the band called Gazpacho :) I am a big fan of progressive rock, as you can see my favourite bands are Porcupine Tree, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Metallica etc. but when I discover Gazpacho I found it was something new... I mean quite often I have impression "I've heard that somewhere before" or "This is quite similar to..." But in this case there was no such thing :) From what I know they have already recorded 4 or 5 albums and I am familiar only with 2 of them (Tick Tock; Night). But the first piece on album Night called Dream of Stone started in that way that I thought "I don't know if I like it but I know I have to listen to the very end of it" And that's how it all started :) But of course, everyone likes different things, so I am not sure if you'll like it :)
