Hey Joe...I could probably rattle off a few hundred recommendations but it would take me forever and a day ...been listening to alot of Crystal Stilts, Arcade Fire, Interpol, Animal Collective, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Kidneythieves...along with my usual fondness for obscure 60's and early 70's psychedelic and garage rock bands, dark ambient, melodic metal and of course, good old classic rock. Thanks for the add, you have great taste!

Not heard Band of Horses new one yet but sounded great on Later the other week. Jeff Tweedy is playing the Union Chapel in June, should be great! Primavera has a pretty interesting line up this year. Looking forward Built to Spill, best album I have heard this year, just about beats the Avett Brothers!

I thought The Pixies were fantastic in London, seemed to be having lots of fun too. The crowd certainly went crazy for them. I haven't heard the new Flaming Lips. I'll be buying it next week.

Wilco were fantastic! All the audience sang Happy Birthday to Jeff and his crew gave him a cake with candles to blow out. The new songs song especially great live but there was a good range of material from through their career. Be sure to catch Blitzen Trapper, I thought they were brilliant!

I sent you a good while ago the latest Bonnie Prince Billy "Beware" via Pando but you didn't download, you might have had it already. Recently we got Tinariwen, Grizzly Bear, Brian Eno & David Byrne, The Eels, etc let me know if you want one of those... talk soon. v

I''ve listened to Passion Pit's new album because people were calling them this year's MGMT. I liked them but not as much as MGMT I have to admit. Have you checked out Empire Of The Sun yet? Their album is great.

fair point though I'm man enough to admit I've a soft spot for Phil in a nostalgic sort of way. I was once a huge Genesis fan when they were cool and alternative. Anyway I've replaced with Phil with a suitable selection of indie and alternative groups in case anybody I know spottted that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't recall where I heard of The Long Winters. A compilation maybe. I have two birds and they love that band so that's why I'm playing them a lot lately, I like them as well. The birds also love Morrissey. They have random musical taste. I'm not sure about Passion Pit yet...I'll give them a few more listens. How is summer in Ireland so far?

Hey, I haven't gotten around to listening to Animal Collective yet, I guess it's been a busy year so far! Have you heard the new Neko Case? I can't stop listening to most of the tracks.

I think you might like high places - try 'from stardust to sentience,' which I see is on here. maybe microdisney will release a retrospective in 2009? I found some more stuff out there and it definitely takes me back to the 80s! Happy New Year

Hi, I found a myspace for microdisney and honestly I'm not too sure about them...give the tracks there a listen. they could be horrible recordings. I have been meaning to give okkervil a spin. thanks for the reminder!

How about Andrew Bird? There once was a free download track on last.fm, The Trees Were Mistaken, which is quite good. I hope it's still around - I think there's less free stuff since the site reorg, or at least it's harder to find. Bird opened for Wilco earlier this year. You can find some shows here: http://wilcoclub.wordpress.com/2008/03/08/download-descarga-wilco-chicago-2

I am liking Middleton. I don't think I have any other Scottish bands, I had to delete my Belle & Sebastian because that's all iTunes on shuffle mode would play. I grew tired of them. My iTunes loves them and the Beatles. How's Ireland?

Yep, I got it, being the obvious Wilco fanatic that I am. Wait, didn't you have to promise to vote in the 2008 election to get the download? Is Ireland having an election this year?

you're right. That is pretty good. A little bleak, but there's nothing wrong with that.

Ha! Thanks for pointing that out to me...I had it running in the background while I was doing other stuff so I wasn't paying too much attention except when something odd/a wee awful came up. I think it's time to change stations.

I have to admit and say I am slightly biased as they are friends of mine and my partner is their manager, but even though, I still reckon they are worth a listen.....good to drive and dance to(preferably not at the same time!!!). You must be gutted about the Prince gig....I have to admit I am a bit peeved since when was over 50,000 people not enough to warrant playing??

Are you asking if I'm an Americana/Anglophile? I dunno. I mostly listen to music from my (misspent) youth and later stuff that was influenced by that genre, with the occasional Moroccan trance song or Irish folk tune thrown in there. That about sums it up!
