Hm, let me think, you may find something you like in Beach Fossils (Vacation; Daydream), Freelance Whales (Broken Horse; We Could Be Friends), or Pepper Rabbit (Older Brother); Johnny Flynn's definitely worth a listen :), and Thos Henley, possibly. Oh, & Seabear/Sin Fang Bous for some icelandic loveliness. (Just basing myself on what i can't find on your library, & i could be totally wrong!) Let me know what you think! :) xx

Hole is playing at Bumbershoot! That's who I'm going to see mainly. I like Atlas Sound also, but I think they're playing saturday and I'm just going Sunday to see Hole, mainly. I was thinking of going sat. too to see Bob Dylan, but I dunno. You're from washington? Ha, then I'm sure you know Nirvana. Courtney Love, Holes lead singer, was his wife.

I love Beach House as well. Um, let's see... each of Hole's albums are pretty different from the other, but anything off "Live Through This" is probably a good place to start. Their album before that is really loud and rough, and the one after it is very pop-rock, but "Live Through This" is sort of the middle ground between the two. You may or may not like 'em, but if you like any girl rock bands or '90s grungy stuff, they're great.

Isn't it just a phenomenal experience? Merriweather Post Pavilion is similar, but much more... accesable, in the most fantastic instance of the word accessable ever. [Btw, thanks... You've caused me to start listening to a ton of Animal Collective as of late :D]

I'm pretty sure [and trust me that some people would strongly disagree with me on this] that nothing by Animal Collective is actually 'THAT' amazing, living up to the hype, but I started out my Animal Collective experience by stumbling upon the Panda Bear album, 'Person Pitch,' and having a very nice experience with it while drowsing off during a long drive on a sunny day. I hadn't realized until later, that Panda Bear was actually a part of Animal Collective, so I finally caved and downloaded their album, 'Merriweather Post Pavilion,' which I actually do enjoy very much. [Brothersport, Summertime Clothes, My Girls being three of my favorite tracks, but just my personal opinion.] Anyhoo, I just realized that I just wrote a whole huge wall of text, so in summary, don't feel too obligated to like AC because everyone else does, because pretentious artistic hipsters who listen to AC religiously are apparently all against conformism in the first place, so it'd be ironic, I guess?

Heh, I haven't decided whether or not all the effort I've put into appreciating Animal Collective has paid off, yet. Like, everyone loves Animal Collective religiously, but I'm one of those rare people who don't hate it, and actually enjoy it a fair bit, but I still don't understand what's with all the hype. :P

Oh, yes! Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! [and I guess Neutral Milk Hotel too, among other similar bands/artists] completely revolutionized the way I look at music. Once upon a time, I wasn't fond of things with such a 'unique' sound, but when I finally forced myself to fall in love with Alec Ounsworth's voice, I realized that anything can be considered beautiful if you have the right perspective. Now, I guess it would seem to many that most of my favorite singers can't sing, and I don't mind a bit. :D
