i’ve watched good mythical morning for almost 10 years now ! so that’s how i found it. also i don’t know many full albums with this theme but if you haven’t listened to him yet i highly recommend Jason Isbell in general for stunning lyricism in general. also The Mountain Goats 100000%, particularly the album The Life of the World To Come, it’s not deconstruction based but it has the theme of religion and it is beautiful but yeah, can not recommend the mountain goats enough. and jason isbell cause he has the same vibes as Rhett’s music. or rhett’s music has Jason’s vibe more accurately ;P

I love "Cadaver Sniffing Dog" particularly those guest backing vocals! My favourite song, however, is "Sicilian Crest" - I love the corny upbeat 80s sounding chorus and the ballad at the heart of the track. Had it permanently stuck in my head all this week.

Finally got to hear ILWD from front to back and wow theres so much to take in. I love how this album is a completely distinct and different flavor from all the other albums, i like it a lot on first listen and im sure it will grow and grow the more i listen, overall really great. As good and important as John’s songwriting is i really love how Jon and Peter really gets to shine on here as a rhythm section, it is so amazing to listen to, and Matt’s sax and other various instruments here and there is just the sweetest of cherries on top. So yeah overall really positive and i love how they took all the good parts from Goths and brought back guitars and some stuff back as well, sonically this is the mountain goats in this form at its peak, amazing stuff, and John Darnielle is still the best songwriter ever period Also, Possum by Night is just the best thing ever
