So, why don't you think that Prince's Musicology is the shit? 'Sitting on his ASS since the 80s.' pffft.

Why does Richard Thompson's only upcoming show have to be way up in Woodstock, NY?

Easycore is a term for Pop-Punk with occasional breakdowns, like New Found Glory, Four Year Strong, Ect. I see you're a Das Racist fan, I approve.

Dunno if you're the Patti Smith type, but she's playing a free concert at Webster Hall on 9/8, though you have to email for a reservation...

Enh, better save it for someone who's interested in using it to its full capabilities. You're a true gentleman for offering though.

Don't Nuge yourself too hard over there. Also, I take it you dig Spotify? Please expound.

Yeah, it's enjoyable, but not what I was expecting... pretty glossy production and not nearly as black metal as I was hoping. A different take than the crust-tinged vibes of late Darkthrone, at any rate. For some far out spacey psychedelic BM, check out Oranssi Pazuzu.

That would be pretty rad. You could take the wonders of scrobbling to unseen heights. Also, PJ Harvey added another NYC show (4/19) since the first one sold out so quickly. It's pricey ($40+) but I'm chalking it up as an early graduation present. You should not eat for a week or something so you won't feel bad buying a ticket.

I may actually be able to make it to the city for the Leftover Crack show (Stzmas?), fingers crossed. Also, Mark Kozelek on March 18th.

I see you're twangin' away your Friday evening (good for you!). Red wine and Neil Young have left me in a rather dour mood, unfortunately.

Haha. I see that you relistened to both before re-evaluating them. It's not that I don't get Chairs Missing. I mean, I really like that album - it's just that I want to be able to bounce to it while doing air bass/guitar. Gang of Four has totally got that down, and I would take "Natural's Not in It" over a lot of songs out there. But also count me in on enjoying the darker sound and piecemeal rhythm of most of Solid Gold, but there's a place for that too. I'll get into Cocteau Twins when the time is right (soon).

I just recently took up smoking a tobacco pipe and —I don't know why, but— that has become my pipe smoking theme music.

Ahh man, Time Fades Away is almost criminally good. It's certainly a crime that it's never been reissued — that's for damn sure. The circumstances surrounding its recording (not to mention, the music itself) are one of the many reasons I hold Neil in such high regard/

Well, speaking of old Neil, how keen are you on Time Fades Away? I see it has some plays in your library, but not a whole lot. Where does it place in your standings of Neil Young albums? Also, have you heard his new one yet? It's streaming for free at npr.org. I actually really like it a lot (much more than Fork in the Road, actually).

Listening to some Justin Broadrick projects, I see. Try some Jesu! Hurray for shoegaze-y blissful metal. Greymachine is also awesome.

No I haven't, though I plan to get that one next. Does it sound like early-era Bad Seeds or like their more well-known stuff?

I really like this Birthday Party album so far, yet it's so bizarre to realize that this is the same Nick Cave of "The Boatman's Call" fame. It's SO different than the Bad Seeds! It's great though. I feel like it should be annoying me, but it doesn't
