Sabotage rules, might be my second favorite Sabbath album (Vol.4). I haven't had my show cherry popped yet, unfortunately, but hopefully in a couple months I'll get to see Neil Young.

$400? That's rough. For $400 you could probably pay Scott Stapp to play like a week's worth of shows in your basement. Not that you'd ever want to do something like that.

Do you know if there's going to be anything in Michigan? I guess I could always check for myself.

Hey there! How are you? "I haven't seen a good modern horror movie in years" Have you heard about It Follows? It's a new horror movie and it's great! I saw it 2 days ago and I really liked it! It's original, it's scary and the music is fantastic!

Yeah, I agree. This is going to make me sound like a tool, but I've given 8 of their albums a rating of 4.0 or higher on RYM.

Good question. I think I have to go with Computer World, but I love just about all of their albums. You?

Yeah, I love Kraftwerk! It's funny you ask me that, because I've been thinking lately about how I haven't really listened in a while. I think I'm going to go on a binge.

Oh yeah, I was super into that stuff when I was younger. I still listen to Soundgarden and Alice in Chains on occasion, and as you can tell from my charts I'm into the Screaming Trees.

source tags and codes is a classic album. still underrated imo. it's good you're getting into some older stuff. i'm past my mid 40s now and trying to find new stuff just for gigs. have you heard of Eagulls, Cheatahs? they have an 80s feel about them, both v good. also trying to record my old vinyl into mp3s. manic pop thrill - that petrol emotion today. great album. funny reading the rem comments below. had a job aged 16 and a group of us were into them the smiths and 'the the' in a big way. reckoning and life's rich pageant are my favourites.

Thanks! I still need to get around to listening to Out of Time and all of the stuff after Automatic, but I have a feeling Reckoning and Fables won't be topped. Both are just perfect.

my first gig was the smiths first album tour. RM/Japan good bands but again slightly pre dating me (obv RM more so as a 70s band). the UK 80s indie scene was pretty healthy and imo far more honest and better than the Britpop years where you just thoughts bands were trying to cash in without being very good. we also had shoegaze starting at the back end. so we weren't looking back and prob didn't consider the influences v much at the time. note, no internet, little cash and so far fewer outlets to hear alternative music so it was all about word of mouth, doing mix tapes for each other and the weekly music press. a lot lot easier hearing stuff these days.

Ta man. not been a massive DM fan though appreciate them. as I was around in the eighties I spent it catching up on punk, getting into the smiths and more alternative stuff: sisters, bauhaus, a lot of 4AD and other underground UK stuff, pixies, muses by the end. there was also a bit of a twee, jingle jangle scene (C86). it was a very diverse decade. I've put a few things up on YT I hadn't found on there: https://www.youtube.com/user/vanwolf2 if you fancy checking it out.

Unfortunately I couldn't listen to it because I couldn't find it. I have already listened to their masterpieces, many times actually since Kraftwerk is one of my favorite bands! :D

I'm sure you'll like it! The 80s is my favorite decade for horror movies AND music. I like both Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street, but I think they're both overrated. Friday the 13th is nothing special and Nightmare on Elm Street could have been great, but the ending is so fucking terrible. I'd take Candyman and Hellraiser over them anyday. The first 2 Hellraiser movies are so awesome! I agree that In the Mouth of Madness is solid and I agree that most of King's adaptations are great. There are still a lot of good horror movies being made these days, but most of them aren't popular or are foreign.

Love Rosemary's Baby, Altered States, the Night of the Living Dead remake and especially Re-Animator! You have great taste in movies too. I love Eraserhead, it's so weird and weird is great! I don't understand it at all, but that's ok lol... Another really weird horror movie I love is the Japanese movie House (1977). It's absolutely ridiculous (in a good way). Cannibal Holocaust is one of my favorite horror movies. Easily the most disturbing movie of the 80s. Anyway, you should check out Demons (1985) if you haven't seen it, it's probably the most entertaining horror movie I've ever seen.

I love horror movies more than anything in the world and I have seen nearly 2000 horror movies. I have so many favorites, but my 5 favorites are Romero's Dawn of the Dead, Fulci's The Beyond, Lamberto Bava's Demons, Braindead and The Evil Dead. What are yours? Excellent music taste, btw. I need to listen to more Talking Heads.

given the cocteau love, have you checked out pinkshinyultrablast from russia? funnily enough simon raymonde was on a new releases review show on bbc6 last week in which their new album was featured. i think it took him back to some past memories.

on first 3 albums, the chameleons and wire are the best for me. Script is one of my favourite ever albums. strange times is great - have you heard swamp thing from 'this never ending now', sort of acoustic version from when they reformed for a brief time. immense, as are the versions of caution and soul in isolation on 'strip'

I haven't yet listened to Dead Can Dance, but they are on my radar. Any particular release you recommend? I knew that Eno produced and co wrote the song 'Sing.' I'm definitely into Eno, but more familiar with his ambient stuff, which I enjoy. What are some of your favorite Eno albums? I have been trying to check out your collection, but rateyourmusic isn't wanting to work. I absolutely love Jar of Flies. One of my all time favorite EP's. It's so good and so haunting. I wish I could have had the chance to see Layne perform live, but at least we have the music.

Thanks, I'm still kinda new to them, but I really enjoy Pygmalion and Souvlaki. Souvlaki is an excellent album. And Pygmalion does not get the attention it deserves. What a beautiful, gem of a record. What are your thoughts on Pygmalion? I actually came across your shout on the Victorialand album page.

He's fantastic, 'Scott 4' is my favorite. And I absolutely love Talk Talk - sounds cliche but they're like no one else I've heard. I've really only listened to their last two albums (both of which are outstanding and I can't pick a favorite), but I've meaning to check out 'Colour of Spring'. And I've heard that Mark Hollis' solo stuff is great but I haven't gotten around to that either. So much to listen to listen to, I wish I had more time to give it all the attention it deserves
