Here's an interesting album (and one of my all time favorites): Omar Rodriguez (2005), by Omar Rodríguez-López (born in Puerto Rico, raised in America, based in Mexico), a conceptual album about Amsterdam, including Dutch song titles.. so you get the connection I'm trying to make here. If the album's too long check out the song Jacob van Lennepkade. The whole album works like Zappa's Hot Rats I'd say, pretty similar (not saying one is better than the other).

Ghana: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEyWIqQCTWk check out the video for Daa Nyinaa too, reminds me of Arthur Russell's disco stuff, but when the vocals hit it's something else

That's cool.. Too bad they didn't qualify. Dutch music is a dead entity for the most part. Though I could recommend the band The Ex.. they've been around for a while. The stuff with Tom Cora and Getatchew Mekuria are good. Also check this tool out: https://rateyourmusic.com/customchart contents are user agglomerated but they do a good job of at least archiving and detailing the stuff, so you can single out albums on country + genre.

Not sure I will be spending enough time here to contribute with much discipline (haha typical England then) but admire the idea! Good luck with it :)

I was watching too and for some reason saw the Romo thing coming, maybe because he had the top of the rotation waiting for him, but good rally against none other than Jansen. Pretty good series I think, watched yesterday as well.

Well then.. Of all no-hitters I had to miss Timmy's very own! That was pretty cool.

I saw my first ever no-hitter game yesterday, one where I didn't tune into later on (like I did last year with Felix, Cain), but.. what a bitter one. But! The Cards got no-hit too last season as world champions, for what it's worth.

Thanks for the heads up. Almost forgot to check my line-up. Shame about Vogelsong, uh? Even though he hasn't been that great.

Fantasy Baseball is basically just an excuse to watch & read more about the game. Allowing me to stroll around fangraphs and baseball-reference for "good reasons". I don't know why I instantly went for Cain, I didn't want to commit to many ace pitchers, except for the obvious Yu pick who is a strike out machine. Cain does pitch a lot, I guess that's a consistency, but I didn't expected so many runs. I should have asked you, because Bumgarner went way over my head. I also had Zito for a day because Greinke went on DL, and I think he allowed 9 ER that exact day against the Brewers, which is just my bad luck.

There once was a cheesy noodle who hailed from a faraway land. He didn't know how to drive a car, so he galloped on his hyena all the way to Hawaii. The other spicy noodles made fun of him because he was cheesy. If this story moved your heart, please let me use your bathroom. Together we can stop racism. Can I count on you?

Really? That's incredible. I'd still go to those games if I lived anywhere near a ballpark in Asia. I actually have Yu on my first fantasy team. On my second team (which is a keeper league with retaining 6 players at the end) I got Cain.

Haha, brilliant. I wanted to watch that (also so I could check out that Ryu) but I went for Texas and I almost saw my first perfect game ever. Yu Darvish was perfect until the last out of the 9th, it was insanity. 14 K's too.

I was spoiled some of the postseason results in the most ridiculous ways. This one morning most specifically, I was watching the morning news during breakfast at 7:30, and all of a sudden the Dutch decided to cover some baseball, immediatly showing the Giants game. They never ever show baseball on tv here. I'm getting mlb.tv as well this year. For the first time this year, I'm gonna give fantasy baseball a shot too. Whenever I get time I try to do some mock drafts online, and do a little research on how to put together the best team. I'm having way too much fun with it. I usually only do fantasy hockey.

Holy crap!! That was intense. What an amazing game it was too. I kept thinking, "okay now they're done"(especially after the injuries), but they kept on coming back in the game. To beat Cuba twice (and now five in a row) is also quite a feat. Amazing. This WBC is already a classic for me.

Did you get a chance to check out some of the World Baseball Classic? The Netherlands are actually doing okay, splitting their first two games. They beat Korea, who were surprisingly awful. But got the short end of the stick against Taiwan (not so much a surprise). Roster looks pretty good too, they put Red Sox prospect Bogaerts on 3B because of the SS overkill. Profar didn't sign up because he's battling for that starting spot in Texas.

That's incredible. You must have fond memories of that. I was indeed impressed by his show. Having Mediterranean roots I felt some kind of connection with his sound. It just feels so authentic, and he's so skillful. Almost transcending set. However, Dutch audiences are notoriously rude and they kept talking (almost shouting) throughout his performance. I felt so embarrassed. Swans turned out great too, but Sir Richard Bishop left the biggest impression.

Hey! Yeah, it's tomorrow already! I'm unfortunately not familiar with Sun City Girls or Sir Richard's solo stuff, but I'm looking forward to seeing him anyhow. I wanted to send you a message but kept forgetting about it. About the Giants, but also about Turkey.. Looks like you're a resident now. :)

Couldn't help but read the game recap. Doesn't look good for Timmy, despite the small improvement. As long as this doesn't develop to some psychological barrier/issue for him..

I'm gonna try to download the game afterwards, and not visit any sports website to prevent spoiling the outcome. It will be on at 4:00 AM which is hard to watch. There's an afternoon game saturday against the Mets and it's gonna be televised. I'm definitely gonna watch that one. Thanks for the library compliments. I took a look at yours and we seem to have the same kind of taste. I'm actually Turkish (but born in Amsterdam), hence the bands such as Mogollar and Erkin Koray. I have a big collection from my father but its mostly obscure stuff on cassette. Hard to scrobble. Are you American?

I saw the World Series two years ago, but I didn't watch the 2011 season. This year I started watching again so naturally I'd like to watch the Giants play. Big fan of Lincecum (Game 5!) too, I wish I could watch more Giants games though. Pacific time makes it hard. I think baseball is far from our top 3 national sports, but we do love it. I think we've had Dutch players in the MLB regularly and becoming world champions last year also helped a lot.
