Hey, would you do me a favor? I’d like for artist name Tomomi Midair World to have more listeners. If you don’t mind, give her a listen. My favorite songs are Midair World, White Turtleneck and mark the end… but any will do. If you’re not wanting to that’s ok…

It wouldn’t let me play yours, or anyone else’s library. WOW! You’re still here... me too. I’m gonna disagree with Last fm’s assessment and say that our compatibility is something better than Very Low, even if we do listen to different music. Carry on.

Thanks. Same to you. I'll be back to play your library... just realized I hadn't done that yet at all.

Just finished listening to Year of the Cat on vinyl, and emjoyed it much more than I did when I listened to it from a digital source. I think it has to do with holding the album cover and looking at the lyrics printed on the inside of the gatefold... and Al I think, is someone who benefits from an extended stay... vinyl just seems slower paced to me... I have to get up to get to the 2nd half even! Well anyway, hey.

I haven't listened to much of anything on vinyl in an age. I have some, but mostly what I do with it is rip it to digital. Makes it easier to listen to whilst driving a truck around the countryside. But I do understand about the holding album in your hand. Which is why I still buy CD's. A part of me thinks that I don't really "own" the album if all I have is the digital copy, y'know?

Yeah. On the one hand I like not owning it, for multiple reasons one of which is that for the last few years I've been working on reducing clutter at my house and on the other there most definitely is a difference for me when I have an actual album as compared to listening to it digitally. So for now I'm going ahead with album purchases but I can see myself abandoning it after awhile.

I'm wit you, Fred! About the only time I shuffle along along is when there is a lone artist I like in a mostly unfamiliar genre... trying to find another one and then go listen to an album from that artist. What I meant I might abandon is vinyl... not sure how that's going to turn out... loving it ATM.

I was going to say that I haven,t heard any 2017 albums that I like. And then I looked at your list - had forgotten that Presley and Atkins were from this year. Those two are definitely my faves. I'm listening to waxahatchee now. I've listened to her a bit before, as she comes up often on "similar artist" lists of artists I like, but I've haven't taken to her yet - maybe this time. A lot of my last fm friends listen to Jason isbell... I should give it a go.

Just checking in... on the strength of its cover I'm going to give that Presley album a spin.

And also well produced... crisp. And the musicians know what they're doing. AOTY for me at this point.

I've listened to the Atkins album 4 times now, and yeah it's a good one to these ears. I listened to Neptune City way back when and I don't recall it sounding like this... I think I'll revisit it. I do lose some interest in the second side... but definitely it's among my favs of the year. Cheap Trick... now that's a band I like but yet hardly ever listen to... good idea.

Hay. Yeah I like BOC though it's not really reflected in my scrobbles. I've heard all the albums through Fire of Unkown Origin. They seem somewhat enigmatic to me... and for a well known band really fly under the radar. Hope all is well with you.

Yeah I'm ok. I'd like a new job but at least I have one. I need a new car but at least I can afford to get one. I'd like a new president but at least... oh snap!

I used to have to do more traveling for my job than I do now, though it still comes up every so often. I was seriously considering getting a new job, since I want to be home... but now it's OK - for the time being at least. And there's nothing wrong with audiobooks. ;-)

The functionality is fine... faster loading for me than before and the scrobbling has remained solid. But I would like a sidewall (or some comparable option for expression.) I also particularly miss not seeing friends/followers scrobbling totals when visiting artist pages. Wow it's been awhile... nice to hear from you.

Hey. New Nellie McKay out... listening to it now. It's a cover album but it's sounding really good to me... reminds me why I used to like her so much actually.

I've wanted to sign up with spotify but since I don't have a facebook account (and don't want one) I haven't... for all I've heard about it though it does surprise me that it doesn't have Hounds. Ah well, we tried; I'm going to listen to Al anyway!

That was funny... but yeah man we'll have a dog & cat recital. Keep in mind though that those two songs in your library are from her first album and by the time Hounds of Love came around her voice had lost the high pitch of the early albums. It may not be as dire as you're anticipating it to be! But I have it easy because even though I haven't listened to it much I know I like the Year of the Cat album.

Are the 3 plays of Wuthering Heights and 1 of Moving really going to do it for Kate's music? I'll listen to Year of the Cat and you listen to Hounds of Love! What do you say, man?!

Hay dude, the big 200k is fast approaching for you! How has your music preference changed through this time and songs played? Make it a thesis, pls.Looking at your page I'm inspired to start checking out more film scores. Have you heard Prokofiev's score for Alexander Nevsky? It's my favorite film soundtrack. It's only recently that I could consider it a soundtrack since I just saw the actual film (1938) a few weeks back. It's funny, they were making the film (which revolves around 'The Teutonic Order' invading Russia, in an obvious reference to the threat Hitler's Germany posed, and then WHAM non-aggression pact - production musy be halted - and then DOUBLE WHAM - actual aggression - why aren't you finished with the film yet? You know how unreasonable tyrants can be... anyway, carry on.

Thanks. It's one of those times I realize I'll never be able to listen to everything I (would) like. I've found so much new-to-me music I like, in multiple previously neglected genres, (primarily contemporary classical, RIO, and this one really burns me up - folk) that I've only begun to scratch the surface of the sound.

Reporting back on the artists you mentioned. I listened to Bramble Rose and liked in particular the songs neighborhood and Virginia, No One Can Warn You with the others pretty much floating by without much notice. I am glad to be informed of another artist from Houston (even if her bio says she didn't live here for long.) I also listened to a collaboration of Tift and the Pistols, which after figuring out what was going on (it took a few songs for me to fgure out that there is a female singer in the band) I very much enjoyed the album and do intend to check out more of their music. The dude's voice is something else and well-suited for duets...

Just wondering about your thoughts on alt country. Lucinda Williams, Todd Snider, Nanci Griffith, Gram Parsons, Townes Van Zandt etc... have you listened to any of them enough to have formed an opinion?

I like the "top albums generator" you're using, so I added it to mine. (Thanks!) My "About Me" section was getting long in the tooth, anyhow, and that Milestones generator has been flaky of late. I love that you have so many plays that you only bother with 50,000th, 100,000th, and 150,000th. And I thought *I* listened to a lot of music!

Yeah, I've heard it. At the time I was losing interest n Nellie and unfortunately this album accelerated the process. It's not bad really... I've just lost interest in here music. At times I'll hear her on shuffle, but I haven't intentionally played her in a while... maybe I'll get back in the groove. Or maybe she'll some different kind of music. Do you have any lesser-known artist you think I might like? This doesn't have to be an absolutely unknown one... prior to my leaving my previous message I listened to Nicole Atkins and that was a no-go.
