Try copying your files out from .minecraft folder (just search for it) and try reinstalling the lot by basically just wiping everything (keep your files and just put them back after).

Oh,cheers for the info m8 - I live in Brighton..I think Atilla still lives in the area doesn't he? The blog isn't mine,as I mention in my profile,but I like to promote it and contribute to some of the posts,as I think it's such a great place to visit! Yeah,I had a bit of a mad hour listening to Patrik F..and some Anal Beard (hysterical) - found a group on here dedicated to Brighton bands too,which was quite interesting.
